AT&T retail stores internal network down

well, I just finished to reserve also on Apple website at 5:26pm EST. After trying since this morning. Also got my confirmation e-mail

Just went to apple store in brea, ca. Told me to reserve it through apple app on my iPhone. Took me 2 min and got confirmation email about 5 min later. For those without iPhone well you’re pretty much out of luck as the servers in the store were still down.

Tried all day through the Apple website as I don’t trust At&t when it comes to shipping on time. Was not getting through until I decided to try the online store using Safari. First try and I got through. Maybe they give priority to Safari browsers

I wasn’t able to pre order but when it failed it gave me a option to pick it up in store. I chose a store and reserved. Anyone know they gonna have a phone for me when I get there or I can be sh*t out of luck if they sell out?

AT&T store just called to confirm my order that they manually took today at 11:30 AM. The crash of AT&T’s store ordering webtool today is proof of why cloud computing is worthless. Glad to be getting my phone on the 24th delivered to my door.

We were just asked tonleave the store. They just told everyone they could comeback tomorrow or wait outside.

It’s not just iPhone related orders. Uverse ran an HBO promotion, 3 months free, coinciding with the True Blood season premiere (advertisement featured TB stars). We tried to add HBO to our package, first via phone — disconnected after holding 5 minutes, 5 times in a row. Then we used the website, Saturday evening.

Sunday AM we had no service whatsoever. No Uverse, no internet. The technician that arrived Monday night said the 2G network had substantial outtages. He couldn’t help.

He was one of hundreds of technicians who’d been flown in from other states to help handle this “system upgrade.”

Tuesday AM the land line went dead.

The billing department kept me on the line for 2 hours, trying to help but finally telling me there was “No estimated time of repair at this time. We have an army of people working on this.”

It seems because we placed an order during this iPhone / HBO rush, our entire account crashed.

kenju4u, they should have a phone for you on the 24th. I will be reserved for you for the entire day. After that they can sell it to somebody else.

How come none of the Android phones sell 1-2 *MILLION* during their initial weekend releases?

Winster thanks! I was able to call apple and get a pre order in over the phone. I received an email from apple with the confirmation. I did ask for the phone to be picked up at the store so i will still be going in to pick it up.

I am curious to know though phone who asked to have it delivered by mail, did they have to provide a credit card number and purchase it today?

I was never asked for any of that info and am wondering now guaranteed is my phone? Specially after reading the disclaimer in the bottom of the confirmation email:

Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Your reservation is valid for pickup only at the Apple Retail Store that you selected.
If you do not collect your selected item(s) by the designated date and time, your reservation will be canceled.

Got all the way to the “Purchase” screen on AT&T, when I pressed it, got the “internet explorer could not open your webpage” message. Tried again and after pressing “Purchase” got a screen that said “Gateway error”. I gave up. 20 minutes later I checked my email and had confirmation messages for BOTH purchases. Now I need to get through to them to cancel one!

I tried for about four hours and received the same message as everybody else. This afternoon I had to run some errand. I went by a At&t store walk in and asked about iphone 4 waited 10 minutes and was in and out in 20 minutes.

Internal networks went down at 2:30 and have been going on and off. Any Iphones that were sold past 3:30 can expect delivery dates from june 25th, through the 7th of july. And for those manual orders the reps are putting through, unless they are done by 10AM on the 16th. Your pre-order probably wont even be put through due to overwhelming demand for the phone.
