AT&T iPhone 4 pre-orders sold out

We’ve been able to confirm with multiple sources that all of the AT&T pre-order iPhones have been spoken for. Anyone who placed an order after 1:30pm Pacific can expect to get their iPhone 4 between June 25th and July 5th.

UPDATE: Engadget got a quote from AT&T confirming our Whisper:

“Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4, today was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history. As of Tuesday afternoon, customers who preorder iPhone 4 moving forward will receive their device on June 25 or later, depending on when the order is placed. We’ll email customers with confirmation once their order is placed, and again when it ships. In addition, we will have devices available on a first-come, first-serve basis in our stores beginning on June 24.”

    With both AT&T and Apple already experienced with this device, you’d think they’d be prepared for the huge interest and hits to their website and that they’d have plenty in stock available for pre-order.

    If not it’s just more incompetent management that runs our US telecommunications industry

      This is the first time they’ve offered online pre-orders for the iPhone. Considering Apple is launching pre-orders for FIVE countries, it’s no wonder their site’s crashing.

    After trying unsuccessfully for the last 10 hours, my Apple online order finally went through 5:30pm PST, listed as delivered June 24th…

    I got 1 32 GB black and 1 16 GB black. Pre-ordered through best buy instore…walked in at lunch time, no line, in-and-out in 15 minutes…oh and I’m #14 for the 32 and #16 for the 16…so hopefully they’ll get 20 of them. Anyone else use Best Buy for pre-order? I guess they’ll call the night before to confirm that it’s in…then just go instore and pick up …easy.

    I just got my iPhone pre-ordered at best buy in Cherry Hill, Nj…I was out in 15min I’m number 21, according to the store manager they will be getting 33 iPhones…but for some reason they made me buy a $50 gift card to hold the pre-order…can’t wait.

      Yeah they do that to make sure you come back to them to buy it and you can’t get a refund for a gift card so either you get the phone from them or use the card for something else.

        When I went to the site and tried to order- said it’s now all 1st come 1st serve on the 24th but it helps that I’ve already registered an account on-line. Won’t help much when you’re standing in crazy lines…… I got a spot for Store pickup a few hours earlier and just wanted to see if I could still do a pre- order straight to my house. No go for either.

    pre-ordered mine through the apple store on line around 7am CST but it was quite the headache.

    AT&T pre-orders end tomorrow at 9AM EST. Confirmed.

    I was finally able to put my second phone order through Apple’s site. It says to be delivered on the 24th. I’m just glad to have it done and over with. And they have charged my card as soon as the orders went through in case anyone needed to know.

    Apple’s website now lists shipping date of July 2nd. Not sure pre-ordering is even worth the trouble at this point.

    Did anyone get the option to still choose unlimited data? I used an upgrade on a line that has never had data service so I figured I could only choose one of the new plans but it let me choose unlimited. Anyone else?

      Scorp,

      If you are an existing AT&T Customer, you have the luxury of opting in for the unlimited data for $30/mo. The cap is only offered to new subscribers.

      This is what a regional manager told me.

    damnit…i pre-ordered mine at 4:45 EST… just missed the cut-off. I hope this whole inventory shortage warning is just Apple being Apple and AT&T being AT&T, trying to suggest worst-case-scenario. Guess we’ll have to wait and see :-/

      I preordered at an At&T store on the 15th at around 1pm CDT and i called AT&T today to get confirmation on a ship date, and the rep said that my order wasn’t processed until 5pm CDT, but he verified an email i received stating that they expect delivery of my phone on the 24th? No idea what’s going on here anymore. I give up.

    i don’t plan on preordering at all. my town isn’t that big and i dont expect for there to be a long line. i look forward to waiting in line and not waiting on that ‘special delivery’

    We’ll I pre ordered 2-16gb at 12:45 PST on AT&T so hopefully all the talk about them selling out at 1:30 is correct.
