Well this is interesting. A poster over at Tihn te (you know, the Vietnamese site that leaked images of the iPhone 4, newest MacBook and the iPod touch with camera) is claiming to have some of the specs for that the Samsung tablet we saw two weeks ago. According to them, the “Tape” as it’s now being called, will we be powered by a 1.2GHz A8 processor while a 7″ Super AMOLED display will be the gateway through which users interact with Android 2.2. 16GB of internal memory expandable up to 48GB via microSD and a 4,000 mAh battery are also said to be on-board, as is some sort of eBook reader. The mention of a Super AMOLED display goes against what was said on Samsung’s South African Twitter account, but it’s not as if what is said on Twitter should ever be taken as gospel.

Nice. But I want to see more tablets. Wonder if HTC will make one?

I hope they make it with a solid quality in terms of MATERIAL

This looks nice, this will match nicely with my Galaxy S when they’re both released :D

Nice to see the AMOLED screen… would rather see them produce more for HTC for the incredible than waste them in this POS.

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

Could Samsung be any less original?

Surely the best android tablet with Super AMOLED screen and whopping 1.2 Ghz processor on Android 2.2.

And it really beats the SmaKit S7 from Huawei with 1Ghz processor.

    Good Work, Samsung! It’s Fair.

If those specs turn out to be true, then I’m sold.

Major developers keep saying that for their Apps to be on Android they have to be able to make money. Tablets will find it hard to be viable running Android. Developers need people to buy their Apps and with the current “Market Place” have fewer than 50% paid Apps the future doesn’t look “profitable” for developers in the Android space.
Android may or may not end up being the largest platform (mobile or otherwise) but if the platform can’t provide “sales” and “profits” for developers it doesn’t really matter how big it gets. Symbian is quite large, how many developers are making a living developing Apps for that platform?

Just like with the Ipad, what is the point of a android tablet? Unless you only have a flip phone and a 30 pound desktop tower, is there really a need for a tablet?

      @ TPM,

Although I don’t have an iPad I will still give a point of view. I believe the screen real estate is the big deal. The tablet is nothing without developers (no matter who makes it) It is what the developers can do with all of that screen room and the SDK (Developers seem to think Apple has the most complete SDK) the will determine the success or failure of Tablets in general. The Hardware isn’t what needs to be considered, it is the software.

will they introduce their version of the “3g tablet” with a provider? Sprint’s 4G or T-mobile’s HSPA+ since the Galaxy S is headed to Tmo?

  • Lactose The Intolerant

This is not the Android tablet I am looking for.

I don’t really believe this. The A8 is based off of Samsung’s own 1 GHz S5PV210 tablet processor. Samsung would have to buy the rights to A8 back from Apple (unless they’ve got some sort of special arrangement) or it could just modify its own 1 GHz CPU.

It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
