iPhone 4 to only be available in black for the first few weeks?

Whoa, whoa, whoa. What is going on? According to an internal AT&T document leaked by the chaps at modmyi.com, the questionably sexy all-white iPhone 4 will not be available for purchase on D-Day aka June 24th. Instead, the document claims that the 16GB and 32GB white models will be “available later this summer.” We’d like to think that if true this fact would have been clearly spelled out for us during the WWDC keynote, but then again, it is Apple we’re talking about. We’ve reached out to both Apple and AT&T for comments, but we’re not holding our breath we’ll get anything worthwhile in response. Either way, we should know exactly what’s up tomorrow as pre-orders officially kick off.

UPDATE: Looks like this is for real. AT&T declined to comment, and now we’re hearing that the same thing is set to happen in Germany thanks to our pals at Macerkopf.de

    You may not be able to pre order white, but it will be available for in store purchases on the 24th. stores dont even know how many were getting until we get them so retail/COR locations wont be doing pre-orders or “waiting lists”. first come first served on the 24th. the 8gb 3gs will also be available but that phone with high stock of the other 3g and 3gs floating around in stores i doubt too many locations will want to order that device. i know we wont be for quite awhile..why buy a 8gb 3gs for 99.99 when you can get a 16gb 3gs for 149.99? and if your spending 149 may as well just spend 50 bucks more and get the 16gb Iphone 4

    sorry guys but this is true, i was advised by my manager that the black is only one available for pre-order wasnt sure why because i wanted a white one but looks like black for me :D

    Both black & white iPhone 4 are equally appealing but does the color of the phone really matter that much? Especially seeing as the front and back is glass, anyone smart enough will get a case for it anyway.

    Honestly when I pre-order my iPhone 4, I wouldn’t even care if they chose the color for me, but that’s just me I guess…I’m a lot more interested in what the phone can do rather than how it looks.

    I’d wait to see it in person. Then decide whether to get the white or the black one. I’ve always liked the black one, but the white one looks pretty cool, and not a common color on phones.
