Flash shown running on the iPhone

Listen. We don’t have a whole lot of details to present to you, but what you see above is a still from a YouTube video that is said to be of an iPhone running Flash at full speed. Before anyone starts getting all huffy and cries out “FAAAKE!” so loud that they wake up their grandma, this video wasn’t filmed by some random yahoo. Oh, no (we think). It was filmed by Comex, the man behind the Spirit jailbreak for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Other than that, we know that this hack is said to be”very preliminary.” Obviously we’re dying to know if it works as a standalone app or is able to fully integrated with the mobile version of Safari, but we guess something to look forward to is always nice, right? Hit the jump to check out the video evidence then let us know your thoughts.

It’s about time. I hope this actually becomes something usable.

    FAKE! Iphone and AT&T SUCK!

It’s the start of E3 and here’s another Apple article. Wow… I guess an App for the apple website and a hacked phone that can play flash is way better than what Microsoft can do, appearently. *Shakes Head*

If you want E3 articles, go to Joystiq.

  • WalterSobchak

Maybe its android on an iphone.
I just saw the other day that you can put 2.2froyo on an iphone, and maybe not have to get an app just to view every website you visit

    • PejHod

Well it has iOS UI though.

Faaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeee! Damn it I woke up my grandma!…

Steve Jobs will order local SWAT teams to stop this.

  • TONY

Looks pretty sweet. Flash still sucks though.

Steve Jobs just ran to the bathroom to check if he could watch Youporn

    • ProudiPhoneOwner

      YouPorn doesn’t run on Flash…so i hear…

  • Dream

O I hope this comes about because cloud Browse struggles to hard to play a video

First off I think its great, now to everyone that was crying about it, shut the f@$k up, you wanted it, its there, happy hacking.
As far as Apple supporting it, THEY NEVER SAID IT WON’T WORK. they merely implied…… due to it being a processor HOG, and a BIG drain on battery life, they will not advise or support it.

I have a jail broken iphone and I don’t think i would install flash on it. I agree I think flash is OUTDATED PIECE of CRAP that causes more problems then its worth. I have talked several friends designing websites not to use flash. I just had to ask them one question when does your browser crash or hang up is it when playing flash? they all said mostly yes . There is the answer.
It does not mater if its MAC OS X or Windows XP, VISTA or 7,MS EXPLORER , SAFARI OR FIREFOX its still the same CRAP

What kind of a POS do you own that Flash crashes your browser. I have *NEVER* (let me repeat that) NEVER experienced a browser crash at the hands of flash. Perhaps you are running one of Stevie’s products that can’t handle anything more than mail but its time to get real here.

  • Adam

Adobe has actually already made flash for the iPhone, and have it ready, it is just that they never got it approved to release. They have actually have had it ready since iPhone 3G, but never got the green light for being too much of a battery killer.

Looks good on my droid with flash.

    • El Oscuro Secreto

Looks good from my iPad 3G on html5

  • akri

    I’m looking forward to it…god i love hackers! :)

    • Jarrett

      @ akri,

Are you more looking forward to the Ads that you will have draining your battery, or the “super cool” Flash games that you can now play, that will also crush your battery?

  • JAG

OMG people have to Jailbrake their iPads and iPhones to see them runnin FLASH?

  • Jarrett

You can also have dice hanging from your rearview mirror in your Bentley but it won’t necessarily mean you car performs better. Unimportant things will always be unimportant. Things that are important are always important. Flash falls under the former, not the latter.

    Cheers

    • MicroNix

Seeing a cube on the website you want to browse rather than content is pretty damn important to me. In fact, besides the faithful who preach Stevie’s blind and delusional view that the Internet TODAY doesn’t have Flash content, there is a strong demand to support Flash. If the Internet itself wasn’t so heavily based on Flash, Jobs might have merit to his pouting, but he’s off his rocker to say Flash is dead.

Jobs is also quite delusional on mobile search as well. His comments in recent articles shows that Flash isn’t the only thing he doesn’t get. I swear in the last year or so, he’s gone from a tech evangelist to damn everyone that doesn’t see mobile my way!! He’s slipping and making some bad choices in the name of screwing other companies.

Does your Bentley’s license plate say “FRESH”?

  • Red

That video sucks! It’s focused on the light in the reflection, not the screen. That could’ve been an HTML 5 site for all we know.

  • chris

This is pretty awesom, but ill have to pass. The only reason i would want flash on my iphone is for Hulu and since it wont work on mobile devices anyway i have no need.
