Supply and demand delay some Droid Incredible shipments until July 12th

The shortage of critical components needed to manufacture the HTC Droid Incredible shows no sign of letting up, as the popular Verizon Wireless smartphone has had its ship by date pushed back to July 12th. Amid the shortage, demand for the Incredible is so high that  Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam recently noted that his company “had to pull way back” on shipments to retail stores in order to focus on online sales. The shortage has also allowed the ageing Motorola Droid — itself facing shortages — to outsell the HTC device. One of the major reasons for the delay is Samsung’s inability to quickly produce AMOLED displays. High demand for handsets with AMOLED displays has placed serious strains on Samsung’s production lines and shows no sign of letting up. Of course to those who have been attempting to get a Droid Incredible since it launched, knowing the reason for the delay isn’t all that comforting. But anyone willing to pay a bit of a premium shouldn’t have a very hard time finding one on sites like eBay and Craigslist. Enterprising individuals there appear to have plenty of stock, albeit with a healthy markup.

    Everyone seems to forget about the “low on space” issue. On my 2nd Inc. and having memory problem again. Plenty of room, I don’t get it. One would think they would have fixed by now. Contemplating my next move. Love the phone, hate the problem.

    I got my Incredible this last week. It took 3 weeks for it to arrive. It is worth the wait as the device lives up to its name. The best thing about the Incredible is the amount of memory for apps.

    Got ours on launch 4/29 … really an amazing device … sorry to hear about the delay for y’all — hope you can hang in there a bit more.

    What I don’t think is fair is the fact that they have cut back on the in store shipments. People who order their phone online can wait a few weeks too. I ordered my Inc in store on May 31 and was told I should have it by June 22nd at the latest. That was today and they told me today they have no idea when my phone will be coming in; they heard a rumor that they “may” get some in this week…I just want my phone.

      I second your sentiment I’m still waiting for mine and I order it on june 4.They said they pushed the shipments until JULY 26. I’m running out of patience here.

    We ordered from a Verizon store on 6/9 and were promised a 6/26 delivery. Then 6/29, now 6/30 with a five day delay tacked on. We paid on 6/9…a lot of money to pay for something that we don’t have.

    I ordered mine on may25 and received mine on June11. best phone ever. BETTER THAN IPHONE 4

    My Incredible was supposed to be delivered 6/29. On that evening I received an email from VZ saying up to a week or so more to ship.
