Droid X gets shown off alongside iPhone, EVO 4G and Droid Eris

There’s no denying that the Droid X floodgates are wide open now. Over at the Android Forums some new photos of the device have emerged by way of user matrix2004. Far more fascinating than the typical leaked images, what makes these ones special is that the show off the X next to EVO 4G, iPhone 3G and Droid Eris giving us a good idea of its size. No surprises here, but it’s absolutely massive. Other things of note in the image are some of the custom widgets that come along with “Shadow BLUR“, the (thankfully) tasteful update to MOTOBLUR.     For those worried about the phones size here are the dimensions:

    2.5″ x 5.01″ x .39″

    Now go make a cardboard cutout and see if it will fit in your tight pants. ;)

    The newer version of Blur is supposed to be pretty non-intrusive, and some of the features are quite useful for the average smartphone owner. Let’s just hope there’s an easy way to turn it off.

    I measured the X’s screen on my monitor with a ruler, and if the Evo is a 4.3″, then the X comes out to almost exactly 4.1, not 4.3…

    The Droid X(treme) screen is a bit taller and a bit thinner than that of the HTC Evo 4G. But it is still a 4.3″ diagonally measured screen, with a near 16:9 ratio.. and it is higher rez than the EVO too. ;-)

      Respectfully, I know what an aspect ratio is.

      With a ruler, it came out to be exactly the same height, but a bit thinner. If the Evo is 4.3″, then Mr. Pythagoras says that the X is 4.1″…

      I can’t say anything about resolution, only that if the photo is undoctored, the X’s screen is physically smaller that the Evo’s, and the higher aspect ration means that the screen has less surface area, too.

      I really need to see this phone and hold it in my hand.

    Um….that thing’s HUGE!!! Yeah, I know, no bigger than the HD2 and EVO, but still, sheesh. I’m just imagining the size of the belt holster I’d need for that monster. No, I think when I’m eligible to upgrade from my Eris in three months, the Incredible is still my choice. I probably would stick with that option anyway, just because I like Sense UI the best, but also, in terms pf physical size, it’s barely any bigger than the Eris, and will fit nicely in my current belt holster.

      I don’t mean to sound like a fashion snob, but the current fashion trend is to not have a belt holster unless you have to carry two phones. I know a lot of women who dislike men who wear belt holsters.

      I’m not saying that you aren’t lucky with the ladies. This is just the current trend.

    THANK GOD!!!!!!!!…..i was waitin got verizon to get 4.3!!!!…..SIZE MATTERS!!!…..i was playing with a friend of mines evo and hd2…i love the size but i think this is as big as a phone should get its perfect i cant way to buy mine :) anybody want a droid?
