CNET is reporting that big-box retailer Walmart will be selling the fourth generation iPhone on its respective launch day. Rumors have been circulating the web that indicate Best Buy and The Shack are also in-line to get some iPhone 4 launch day love, but neither company has been willing to go on the record and confirm.

Going to your local Apple Store on an iProduct launch day is always an interesting social experiment…and Walmart is always an adventure. We’ve put together a little iPhone 4 Launch Bingo for you if you’re planning on getting one retail…hit the break and let us know what you think.

does it really matter I would think most would pre order and have a chance of getting it mailed to your house a day or two early.

    • http://www.distort.it Distort It

I would have to agree on this one. I will be preordering it for sure.

    • Ross

Did apple say that the pre ordered phones will be shipped? I’m confused of how they will handle this pre order thing….

    • JakeyBoy

when has Apple ever accidentally shipped an iProduct a “day or two early”???

  • The Prophet Mohammad

I for one will not be at Walmart or an Apple store until you can use this phone on a carrier other than AT&T. Whether it be the data caps or weak 3G connection/coverage, I just can’t get myself to make such a terrible carrier decision.

    • Chris

AT&T’s been great for me in Atlanta. Must be where you live.

      • The Prophet Mohammad

I’m glad you have service where you are. But generally, as someone who traveled significantly throughout the US the last couple of years, I must say their data was very inconsistent on my iphone 3G, which has since been sold to some thug on Craigslist.

I really liked the iphone, but At&t just wasn’t worth the Verizon prices in my opinion.

      • Jon Qanxc

Service for at&t is great here in Sacramento. I shopped Sprint , Tmo , Vzw. Speedtest.net all the devices and at&t was the fastest 3G. 2.2 Mbps. I have no dropped calls and at&t always takes care of me! Probably because you have a outdated sloe 3G . That model sucked. Long live at&t.

  • htatc

This is good news for those who will be looking. I do believe this phone will sell well. But I can’t help to think this time it is more because of name than what the phone offers. I have a 3G, have had it factory unlocked for quite some time. Frankly I am looking at other alternatives. This just seem more like a mild update than an all new device. To me the product just didn’t match the hype.

HTATC — I’m thinking of finally getting out of my Win Mo 6.5 phone to something else (Iphone 4 or Android). What are some reasons you are looking to move away from your Iphone? I try to find objective reviews online and it’s only Haters or Fanboys…

      • HTATC

One of the reasons I am looking to get away from iphone are mainly some of the restrictions, i.e, the hassle of setting up ringtones, wallpaper, itunes, also, i am looking for a qwerty keyboard, there is no “true” multitasking as on my former E71. Also, having used the phone for the past two years I have found that I dont use the apps nearly as much as I thought I would. There is more but that is the jist!

      • Chris

Sean- I’ve had the iPhone since the original launch day and I can safely say that, unless you’re a bonehead, you’d be just happy if you bought an Android set.

Don’t get me wrong, the iPhone is great, but it’s not so superior that it is a no brainer. I also agree with htatc, I’ve downloaded 30 to 40 apps over the lifetime of the phone and I have ~8 still on my phone. The rest you either delete like me, or have 5 pages of icons you never use. The 8 I still have are all from major companies that either have an Android app or are in the process of making one.

Finally, the biggest reason why I want to move from the iPhone is iTunes. What a bloated piece of crap software, even on a Mac. 90+ mb download each time it updates, completely intrusive and wholey stupid on it’s execution of media management on the phone.

      • HTATC

Agreed, I too really like the iphone. (That is why I have had mine for the past two years unlocked no contract) But as was said, I am starting to get the feeling that this new phone with the new update just was not what I was expecting. . I for one can wait until WM7. It would give me more choices when I finally do decide on my new phone. Loved the look of that WM7 Dell qwerty by the way.

      • MicroNix

Agree on many parts. I had a dumb phone + iPod Touch for a long time waiting for Verizon to have anything that would be worth it. After two years of owning the touch, I had roughly 6 apps which were used daily and maybe another 10 that I used off and on. I was happy when I heard that all these major apps were already on Android and after doing the research went with Android after VZW got the Droid.

There really are compelling reasons to go to the Android platform. True multitasking is one of them. Many downplay multitasking (mostly on the Apple side of course) but there are many times where I can legitly have 2 or more apps running at the same time. Only *once you’ve had the freedom* to do that will you see the combinations that it opens up for you. And I don’t use a task killer at all and don’t have any issues with multitasking.

But the end decision needs to be what fits your needs. If AT&T coverage is good everywhere you go (all the more power to you if that is the case) then the iPhone might be a good choice. If you are like others and AT&T sucks bad everywhere you go, you certainly don’t have a shortage of powerful Android devices on almost any carrier you want. I have not found one major daily app I use that doesn’t have an app for both iPhone and Android.

  • Dardo

is the iphone 4 gonna be sold unlocked/carrier free at all?

    • B

      NO

    • Kirk

      Yea, in Europe.

  • MikeD

Apple is trying to prove they can still sell more phones without having to go to another carrier. Thus the increase the number of outlets the iPhone is sold. Selling them in Walmart is a way for them to cement the iPhone in the minds of consumers.

AT&T better be ready for a serious pounding, cause I have a feeling a million iPhone 4 will sell in a week.

    • http://androidhow2.com Nate

If they sell a million iPhones At&ts already week coverage (I mean capcity not physical converage) would completely crash. We have heard so many stories of outages from too many iPhones on the network. Not to mention At&ts current 2G outage right now…

      • No

“week” does not = “weak”. LEARN.

      • JD

most of phones sold will be iPhone users upgrading. so its not like 2 million new users in a week. most of those will be a existing users upgrading from 2nd gen 3G iPhone (and some 1st & 3rd gen iPhone). not as bad of network hit as one thinks.

  • Tim Berry

You forgot a kid wandering by themselves at Walmart.

  • apple_

I can confirm that Radioshack WILL be selling the iphone on the 24th. But radioshack always fails at getting enough product to sell. they may get 2 at some stores, and 10 at another… I can not confirm if Radioshack will be doing the preorders on the 15th as of now.
If they do preorders, the number of devices received on the 24th will be based on how many preorders that store gets. The more pre orders, the more stock they will get above the preorder numbers.

  • Durangojim

This is going to make all the Apple/iphone elitists so sad and upset that their precious iphone won’t be considered high class anymore (which it really wasn’t in the first place). Ha!

    • B

so what have u been smoking .Fact is with out apple smartphone would still be boring pda’s

      • dario

If you believe everything Steve Jobs tells you then maybe you are the one that should get off the stuff.

My past phones had everything the iPhone has and more before it ever came out. Touch screen, full Outlook integration, content control that isn’t dictated by Apple, USB file transfer – no stupid iTunes to deal with, software, games, etc, etc. WinMo had this and more.

The only game change Apple provided to the mix was enhancing the touch screen experience. But even the swiping can be a bit ridiculous at times.

      • B

what has he said that was wrong

      • MicroNix

Agreed. @B you are absolutely wrong. The real FACT is that without the trail being blazed by Palm (merging pda and smart phone) and Windows Mobile, Apple wouldn’t have had anyone’s idea to capitalize on. Windows Mobile was doing everything the iPhone was doing minus an app store and iTunes before the iPhone was even conceived.

    • dario

It stopped some time ago. Walmart has been in the mix for some time now. I laugh at some of these elitist responses too. Your phone is sold at Walmart. Anyone can buy this thing now. Stop labeling haters as too cheap or too poor to buy this overrated bar of soap.

      • B

so u use a flip phone leave every one else alone.let me guess your an android fangirl

  • Jsphs

I will pre order my iPhone, get the phone unlocked and use it for tmobile…they have better 3G coverage…AT&T better get their shyit together

    • B

What you fail to realize is that ANY phone not sold by tmo or a phone dedicated to tmo that u get unlocked will only run 2g yes 2g .so you are wrong my friend

    • Nick

is this a freaking joke?? unlock the iphone and use it on Tmobile 3g? hahahahahaha…..obviously, this person know nothing about Iphone and 3g..

  • http://justSkate.me netposer

Walmart doesn’t give out food samples. That would be Sams. RadioShack runs the phone kiosks at Sams.

  • CA

I would flip flop the apple logos on the cards. Reporting 3G outages in Houston and north Atlanta this afternoon. FYI.

    • Bdub

3G outage in Knoxville today. Northern FL yesterday.

  • andreacristiano

my bestbuy already told me they are taking pre orders on the 15th and I also spoke to the shack so I bet walmart will as well. the question is will it be a few bucks cheaper ?

    I really dislike Walmart.

  • andreacristiano

    @Nick,

I agree people just talk out of their asses and don’t even realize how stupid they are. to bad the 3G frequencies are totally different and tmobiles network is a quarter of AT

    • HTATC

The 3g networks are different tbut the iphone can support 4 of them, one of them is the tmo network

  • andreacristiano

    @FriarNurgle,

what the hell was the point in posting that idiotic remark. no relevance

They should sell it at your local Drug Store so at least all of the Apple loving, Starbucks going Beatniks can buy some badly needed hygenic products on the way out!

  • Tony

    Good job stereotyping Walmart shoppers.

  • sarmenhb

isnt wallmart a shop lifters paradise? lol more iphones will be stolen than in any other location

  • tookie

the unwashed masses get the phone too

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

  • chad

Best Buy will also carry iPhone 4

  • TC

    So WTF happened to BGR?

Now we dis iPhone and Walmart shoppers?

I could see if these stupid bingo cards were even remotely humorous, but they’re not.

The iPhone bingo card is just a rehash of tired, ancient Apple cliches. It’s played, folks. EVERYONE uses iPhones now! IPhone users are no longer a marginal minority. Get with the present, it’s 2010, not 1998.

I don’t even know what the Walmart one is about? So all Walmart shoppers are hillbillies? EVERYONE shops at Walmart, again, see above.

So now you’re ridiculing people because of where they shop? I thought that was why you all hate Apple fanboys? Because they think they are so much better than everyone else? Just like the authors of this post.

You guys have drank a bit too much of your own Kool-Aid.

And just like that, BGR has officially achieved irrelevancy…..

  • b00dah

I’m going to go with Walmart baby! No one undercut big Sam Dub-ya! I’ll hustle on down there and fight through a lot crammed with carts and save a whopping 2.99 on the new iPhooone 4.

  • Mik100

    Hey guys,

  • sammysam518

    cowboy tuxedo?! Rotflmao!!!

And as far as ppl mad at BGR for stereotyping Walmart shoppers: chill out! No need to get your panties in a bunch…If u didn’t notice, HE STEREOTYPED APPLE STORE SHOPPERS TOO… so everyone wuz insulted evenly ;-)

Btw, for Wal-Mart u forgot to put the untrained sales associate trying to sell u the iPhone that they know nothing about

And for the Apple Store, kids spending all day making movies on the Mac’s webcam, lol: http://m.youtube.com/#/profile?client=mv-google&user=nicholifavs
