Adobe Flash Player 10.1 up for grabs

It’s been a long time coming, but Flash Player 10.1 has finally been released. For Windows users with relatively new rigs this means that you’ll be able to put less of a strain on your system when watching streaming videos thanks to hardware acceleration for H.264 video. Sadly the Mac-specific version released today still lacks this feature, but it will be made available just as soon as Adobe is finished polishing up the “Gala” edition of Flash Player 10.1.

    Still no 64bit version….

Is anyone surprised the mac version is lacking? No not because of the flash battle, just because adobe has always been behind on mac versions, as was stated before.

      I’ve noticed.

Remember how they also complained they didn’t have access to hardware acceleration. Well Apple gave them what they wanted and Adobe didn’t bother to put it in 10.1

      So what’s the excuse now?

    HTML 5 ….

What a load of crock. Less strain on the system, wow, how long did this take. How about no strain on the system and not install it at all. Good by yesterday, hello HTML5 tomorrow.

Click2Flash.com is an excellent upgrade to OS X. Even on this site I get to skip most of the ads.

    What does this do again?

Adobe Flash allows you to access the “full” web experience with stunning video, magical games, revolutionary web page user interfaces and eye-captivating advertisements.

Hardware acceleration on the Mac happens through the Quicktime API. On Windows, it happens through DirectX.

One of these is a powerful tool that’s been around for a while and has a lot of good driver support, and the other is the bastard child of the second worst video platform ever made (the first being Flash video).

But still, Apple has what?… 4 video cards to choose from?

Surely there’s some way of working around Quicktime if it’s that difficult to make it happen.

I got flash on Nexus one and I put the plug in “on demand” mode to load web pages faster. After I updated to latest flash, it went back to “always on” mode. I didn’t realize it until some flash video start playing itself in one site I was visiting. I didn’t even realized that it was on because the speed improve with new update. It still slow down to a few second compare to loading pages without flash on but it didn’t lagged or slowdown that much anymore. I haven’t test the battery yet but I plan to do so after full charge at home tonight. I don’t have Iphone but once in a while it’ll help to have flash “on demand” in the phone. Especially if you need it for your job.

I like the update, not as resource hungry it seems on alot of sites…

Though that crap engadget site is still a resource hog on any Window product, desktop or mobile, with or without this. They go out of their way to screw the WM users at crapgadget.

And here i thought it was flash…Doh
