AdMob's founder criticizes Apple

News

AdMob_Google

In a post on his blog this morning, AdMob founder Omar Hamoui lambasted Apple for anti-competitive behavior pertaining to the most recent changes to section 3.3.9 of the iOS developers agreement. According to Hamoui, if Apple should chose to enforce what is written in the agreement, Apple would be erecting “artificial barriers to competition” which “hurt users and developers and, in the long run, stall technological progress.” While there is in reality very little that anyone can do to get Apple to change its course, Hamoui has said he and Google plan on “speaking to Apple to express our concerns about the impact of these terms.”

Fuck Apple, and Fuck Steve BlowJobs! They fucking annoy me. If Jobs was talking about a turd he just made he’d say it the best turd in the world.

*Here ar Apple, we really believe our turd is the best, most beautiful, most refined turd in the world. Our turds are majical, revolutionary and special in every way. And, our turds have corn in them too!

Apple Zombies: WHEN ARE THESE TURDS ON SALE???!!!!!

Careful you dont eat your words…

    • Vincent

AdMob is just whining because they are gonna lose a very big marketshare, in fact Apple is right. They don’t even have to allow any analytics firm onto the iPhone. It’s their plattform and in someways it’s better for the consumer. They will experience the same in every single App. They don’t have to worry about “oh… will this take me out of the app?” NO THEY WON’T. It’s all about the experience.

    • iFair

Get a Brain. The terms merely prevent gathering usage statistics. AdMob can operate perfectly just fine under the new agreement, putting ads into apps and developers getting paid for it. They just won’t be able to take usage statistics about iPhone and give that data to Google to give them an unfair advantage in competing in the mobile OS market

    • ernielm

You are right. I have NEVER EVER seen a guy talking highly about the products he is selling.

Typically, a guys selling a product says, “oh man, this product I am selling you sucks big. I hate it and it looks horrible. But buy it please!”

Please don’t be so stupid. What do you expect anyone to say? Of course he’s going to say he’s products are the best. He is SELLING you MORON!!!

      • Joe B.

Selling is good and all but Jobs with a straight face in a non humorous/sarcastic overtone actually has the balls to pitch his projects as “Magical” and “Revolutionary”. Are you fucking kidding me? I love phones and tablets as much as the next guy, but only a pretentious tool who thinks every person in this country is a complete idiot would use catchphrases like that to sell their product. Even the most devoted Apple Fanboys have to admit if this was any other company/CEO, out there even you would be rolling your eyes.

      • MikeD

Your problem Joe is that you are taking it literally. Jesus whats the average comprehension level of you guys? 3 years old? He’s selling how easy it is to use, easy it is to get results. My God how many times you guys gonna go on about that.

What you guys want to see pixie dust or fairies? He used appropriate words. The world doesn’t expect Gandalf to appear. but for some reason you guys feel that comes with Apple devices. Take to the FTC if it upsets y’all so much and see if they even bother let you finish you complaint.

      • Joe B.

Lol when you logged onto their official website it was the first words you saw on there. Jobs himself has been quoted saying it himself numerous times during speeches and whatnot (he really doesn’t sound like he’s using it humorously), and it is also the basis of their television commercials now. They are definiteley not poking fun at themselves, they really do think their products are that superior that they are deserving of ridiculous titles like that. What is so Magical and Revolutionary about an OS that has existed for 3 years with little change and simply enlarged for the Ipad? Also what is so Revolutionary and Magical about an Iphone taking a feature from Android (Multitasking) and a feature from the Razr (Camera Flash) and calling their Iphone 4G the biggest leap forward and “the most advanced mobile OS out there”. I’m guessing the threshold for Magical and Revolutionary is pretty low around Apples Corporate Office.

Goomob? Sounds like a type of finisher in a porn movie! Did you see that guy goomob all over her face? lol

Naw, it sounds like a video game enemy. “Man I was all the way up to level 20 when a damn goomob killed me!”

  • primo

Now now! Can’t everyone just get along and work together.

  • Perspective

I sure hope Google has a plan B on recouping their $750 million investment. Maybe now they’ll focus their attention on making better, higher quality clones of Apple products.

    • Joe B.

Last I checked the last several Android handsets consistently outranked/rated the Iphone in head to head comparisons. If you love your Iphone thats cool but the majority of critics, publications, websites etc… lateley have been giving the edge to Android. And the way I see it Iphone is working on their clone of Android, adding multitasking, a flash to their camera lol. It took the Apple thinktank 3 years to perfect that cutting edge camera flash technology (they shoulda copied notes from the people that made the razor).

    • MicroNix

Actually, Apple is working on cloning Android devices. HTC has had them over a barrel lately and catching up has been a bitch! But hey, after 3 iterations of the iPhone, the camera will have a flash!!! LMFAO! And the Fisher Price display has been upgraded to an actual high res display. Pity its still the same icon launcher for a home screen with little of value when you first turn your phone on, but hey, that’s how Steve wants you to use your (I mean his) phone.

Nearly every new major feature has been something copied from other phones. There is nothing revolutionary about this device. Nothing that cuts it above. In fact, its still missing some features available in other smart phones. I guess we’ll just have to wait until next June to see what things are copied for the iPhone 5…Its time to face the fact that Apple is no longer the supreme in smart phones. Everyone else has awoken and are taking their devices to new heights while Apple continues their incremental upgrades that are just enough to get the faithful to fork out another $200 every year.

  • patrick

Its almost as if apple knew that the new iPhone was going to fail, so they decided to persue ad revenue instead of product revenue. And as they are always fearful of competition they decide to block it. Home, one phone, one company and one ad system? Sounds like a monopoly to me.

    • ernielm

I don’t think the new iPhone is going to fail. You may wish it, but, don’t for a second, believe they will.

      • Patrick Moto Droid

aren’t you one of the people who thought the new design sucked? and where are the responses to my monopoly comment? And what about the fact that the new iPhone couldn’t even load a web page at wwdc??!! Hey Steve, why don’t you try Verizon

      • ernielm

You obviously don’t know they were on WIFI. And NO I never said the new design sucked. You are confusing me with someone else, because it’s the MOST beautiful phone ANYWHERE!

I thought you may be a little smarter, but even I am wrong from time to time.

      • Patrick Moto Droid

so the wifi is broken on the new iphone?

      • Patrick Moto Droid

and yes i knew they were on wifi, they went around the room yelling at everyone and telling them to turn off all wifi devices. weren’t you there? i thought there was a clown holding ballons

      • ernielm

And regarding monopoly… What in the world are you talking about? What monopoly? If you don’t like Apple or their products, and it’s obvious you don’t, then don’t buy them. Buy Android, buy WinOS, by Palm, by Linux. I don’t think you know or understand the meaning of monopoly.

    • YAZombie

And they talk about Steve Jobs’ reality distorsion field…

    • Jarrett

Being a monopoly is legal. It is abusing your monopoly that is illegal.

      • Rob

18% of smart phone sales is a monopoly? as opposed to 90+ of Windowz PC’s? or 75% of search market – which AdMob happens to own under Google…
That’s where your rant should be focused… not in delusional spats from AdMob monkeys.

  • Dream

Screw The iphone if this is the case then all i need to do is upgrade my Itouch to IOS 4 and Boom i have and Iphone with no carrier fees. And yea this anit-competeivness makes apple seam really freightned of the rise of the DRiodddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!

    • iFair

Here is the fact……The terms merely prevent gathering usage statistics. AdMob can operate perfectly just fine under the new agreement, putting ads into apps and developers getting paid for it. They just won’t be able to take usage statistics about iPhone and give that data to Google to give them an unfair advantage in competing in the mobile OS market.

    • Vincent

Why is it always screw Apple screw Apple?? Why are you bitching about the iPhone 4 if you aren’t going to get it anyway. It seems that you are frightened of the fact that it will and is a success.

btw: http://cl.ly/1Kqp huh… not even Google found that.

      • ernielm

Cause you are not dealing with very OPEN guys here. They talk about OPEN, but they are NEVER open to anything Apple builds. NO MATTER WHAT THEY BUILD. Which means all these guys are ABSOLUTE HYPOCRITES.

    • ernielm

They were simply correcting the misleading data that Google published during their I/O conference a few weeks ago. And of course they are weary of the competition. I am! I own my business and I always weary about them. If I didn’t, I’d be out of business.

      • Patrick Moto Droid

not if you had a good business to provide

      • ernielm

And you are saying Apple doesn’t have a good business. Patrick, you are sinking lower and lower. Guys that know a hell of a lot more about business than you or I would tell otherwise.

      • Patrick Moto Droid

mope the good business comment was aimed at you

      • ernielm

Of course. But remember the saying, “keep your friends close and your enemies closer”? I have to keep my eye on the competition. Don’t you guys say competition is good? Well, there you go.

  • Red

Wow! I thought CNET was the only site full of Kool-Aid drinking Microsoft and Google sluts!

If you have no interest in something, then DON’T READ IT!

    It’s actually pretty simple, SLUTS!

  • cMc

Honestly, I’m in favor of competition (anything for cheap / free apps), but have to admit I hate the admob ads. Jobs nailed it in his key note. I never click on admob ads , it redirects, stops your app, and they’re completely boring.

Sounds like sour grapes from admob.

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

    • Red

Totally agree! I’ll click on iAd ads way before I’ll ever click on an AdMob ad again!

    • Patrick Moto Droid

only stop the apps on the iphone os

      • Patrick Moto Droid

but you are perfectly fine with lousy pop up notifications?

      • Vincent

I get 1 at a time. No big deal. Go bitch elsewhere.

      • WalterSobchak

Dude you are awesome. They don’t want to exit an app to look at an ad twice a month, but having to exit an app many times per day(due to your phone not being designed to multitask) to get a message is just fine. I like how apple adressed the ad problem before the notification problem(seems googlesque)
Thanks for exposing that flaw in reasoning.

      • ernielm

Why do people keep saying the iPhone can’t or isn’t designed to multitask. The iPhone MULTITASKS and it always has, it wasn’t opened to 3rd party developers, but it always has. For the benefit of those than don’t have a clue, my email, calendar, address book, iPod, work just fine in the background and when the phone is paused. Please GET A CLUE BEFORE OPENING YOUR PIEHOLE!

  • The Prophet Mohammad

Oh damn, no more annoying diet pill ads to accidentally click on…

  • WalterSobchak

This is awesome. There are really people fighting about/defending ad delivery systems.
I just installed adfree on my droid. NO ADS!!!! Not in apps, not on websites. And to all the people that thought I would have to suffer flash ads with my new Flash 10.1, nope, click to enable flash. No wasted resources, no unnecessary ads.
But yeah keep fighting about which ads are more entertaining or better written into the app.

    • Billy Bob

Your so right. It’s F’N ads people. I can’t believe you Apple fans are happy about the whole iAd thing. They will be putting a new ad system on your phone. I guess that really makes it magical. All of you are pathetic defending all this ad bullshit.

      • YAZombie

Where did you see people praising iAd? I don’t get this obsession some people have with “fan boys” that they see them at every possible occasion. Is it something sexual? A childhood trauma maybe?

Get you facts straight man: the only praising/pissed morons (and for such a deed they really don’t deserve any better name…) here seem to be Android fans!

      • WalterSobchak

Sorry I guess I misread Red’s and CMC’s comments. And I never said praising, but “fighting about/defending” I also don’t. Say anything about fanboys.
Beyond that I don’t care if you like admob or iad you are an idiot for saying you like ads.

    • Patrick Moto Droid

as far as ads go, they serve a purpose to provide revenue and support free apps. like you, I prefer adfree as well,I would like to see someone with an iphone turn off ads or download an app that blocks iad. but for a lot of people ads are not an issue. but there are many reasons why Google benefits from ads, the number one reason is to see what consumers want and desire and then to analyze that data and thus provide another free service to its users. and Google does have many free apps/products for a wide variety of uses.

  • http://(null) Eric

Does Omar Hamoui whine much? I think he needs some cheese to go with that.

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

  • http://(null) justfinethanku

of course they critisized the competition.

    is this really news?

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

  • MikeD

Google, better be real careful. I mean really careful on this one. Take this to court and they may open the doors for iAds to appear on Android devices.

    • ernielm

That’s right. I don’t hear anyone here complaining about iAd not being in Android. It’s always on Apple as far as these guys is concerned.

  • jawman

Reason # 3,456,931 why I hate Apple. And the list just keeps on growin’!

    • ernielm

Why? Cause they don’t allow a competitor to have access to their customer information? C’mon, maybe one or two of those 3,456,931 reasons is valid. The rest is you not having a life. You are jealous of their success and God that drives you NUTS. Reason 1 and that’s it.

I myself dislike several things and like a lot more. Not so much about the company. I love their products. But I also love Google’s products, some of Microsoft’s products, Adobe and so an so forth. I don’t let myself be CLOSED, like you are and not take advantage of the things each platform provides.

      • jawman

        iIdiot Fanboy alert!!!
        iIdiot Fanboy alert!!!
        iIdiot Fanboy alert!!!

      • PhxBlue

13 year old up past his bed time playing on the internet alert!!!

If you aren’t 13 and are actually an adult then you should be really ashamed of your 13 year old personality. Goodnight kiddo.

      • dario

I was in agreement until you said you do not let yourself be closed. You use a phone that is for all practical purposes a closed device. Probably the most closed device on the market.

And yes, they have a right to keep the stuff from competitors until that competition is considered stifled or unfair practices are implemented.

Their success will do them in because their market share will force them to confront this issue time and time again. The bigger they get the more pressure they will feel to keep their device open which conflicts with their closed eco-system and “control every revenue stream possible” philosophy.

Everytime I am ready to pluck down money for an iPad or iPhone I read crap like this and it just turns me off on their products. For some folks this isn’t an issue, good for you.

And finally, I agree with the original posters, there is a lot of defending of ads by Apple fans. Again, because Steve says it is okay, the fans are all in agreement.

Sheep, I hear your shepherd Steve calling you.

      • jawman

Couldn’t have said it better myself.
        + dario

  • Counsel

Ignorance… Admons will be cut out and iads will be in-you know, Apple’s ad company… Steve even said that iads aren’t irritating like other ads so they don’t need to be blocked… Yes, it’s all about the experience… You are welcome to apple if you like that experience… I’ll take my dollars elsewhere.

  • moestepp

Jealous much, this sounds like the exact same argument idiots made about TV advertising when it started.

  • http://www.igadgz.cz.cc @AntMcl

Apple seem to believe that they are the future, and that mindset isn’t healthy for them or the whole industry. Steve, time to wake up!

  • http://www.igadgz.cz.cc @AntMcl

    @Joe B. Agreed.

  • Tez

Why does everyone here hate apple so much? Did they sell u a broken product or something? Yea android is cool but to each there own so why get mad at people who don’t have the same product as you? Is this really what u guys do with your day? Argue about fuckin phone companies which u have no stock in so there success or failure affects you in no way? Please leave your computers now and get some sun and try to talk to a girl or something u might like it.

    • YAZombie

Thanks for the only adult and intelligent post so far.
Except you might also go talk to a guy.
