T-Mobile rumored to launch Samsung Galaxy S on July 21st

Rumor

Galaxy-S-GT-I9000

It’s been long established (albeit unofficially) that T-Mobile will launch the Samsung Galaxy S, but a timeframe for release has always eluded us. That is until one of TmoNews’ tipsters threw their hat into the ring. According to them, the big date for the launch of the most advanced T-Mobile, Android handset will be July 21st; a date that lines up nicely with what we said a while back. Of course that doesn’t change the fact it would be odd for T-Mobile to release the Galaxy S so late into the summer, while everyone is clamoring to get an EVO 4G and iPhone 4, but hey… They’re the nation’s fourth-largest carrier for a reason, right?

At least T-mobile is being accurate in the promo pick with the E for EDGE symbol cause that is all you will get with them.

    • Anonymous

Except for the places that get HSDPA speeds like Philly, NYC, L.A., etc. You know places actual people live at and use smartphones.

      • The Prophet Mohammad

LOL, ok man. T-mobiles network is pathetic. I’ve had them. Yeah, they are cheap, but if you wanna ever step out of those cities you likely won’t be getting those speeds, let alone service of any kind.

      • Chris13

WHERE do you live Mohammad? It’s not the T-mo sucks, it’s that T-mo sucks WHERE YOU LIVE. Sprint sucks where I live, it just does. Sprint is the ONLY carrier around here where people have to stop and say, “oh, hold on, I gotta go outside to get a signal”. Sprint doesn’t really suck that bad, they just suck HERE. Asshole.

      @ Michael Bettiol

Dude, I’m sick and tired of you always hating on T-Mobile, what? I thought this blog was runned by professionals. Very sad dude, very sad.

On a happier note, this phone will come at a great time, once all the customers that signed up for Sprint to get the EVO start getting dissappointed T-Mobile will take them will hands open. Seriously Michael Bettiol, get over yourself bro and find a carrer thats suits you, for example working for Sprint?

      • UberSapian

        runned!? carrer!!? ?????????????

      • tmo-emp

yeah, most of the reps have bad grammar/spelling. HATE getting tickets from customer care.

  • ladiver

Hopefully they will be able to compete. I am growing tired of my Blackberry and ready for some froyo. Hopefully it has an excellent 3g radio because I would be willing to give up UMA for this bad boy.

    • UberSapian

UMA is coming to Andriod :( )

      • UberSapian

Sorry, turn that frown upside down!

  • Nokia N900

T-Mobile for life! I may have to give this phone a try, this is our iPhone.

    • Nokia N900

@Michael Bettiol, why would they want to go head to head with two phones with presumably better specs? It’s best to let the iPhone4 and EVO hype die down a little bit before hitting them with this GalaxyS uppercut.

      • Laz

TMO does not want to stop any momentum of the myTouch Slide! Yes, you can cound on them being a little late to the dance…

      • jaymax

Bettiol has an axe to grind with T-Mobile for some reason…every article has snide comments in it. It’s kind of juvenile, actually.

    • Nokia N900

@Michael Bettiol, also according to you guys the EVO is out of stock, and according to history the iPhone4 will soon be out of stock also, so when this phone launches every1 will be sitting around playing the waiting game anyway.

      • mingkee

It also happened on HD2, which was sold out in a few hours.

      • Chris13

As a T-mo customer with an HD2, I can tell you… Tmo customers are BEGGING for a super-phone. That’s why the HD2 sold out. The problem is most people hate WinMo (I do not, I happen to enjoy WinMo quite a bit). T-mo needs the Galaxy S in a bad way and timing doesn’t mean shit because they aren’t going for the “we’re going to try to steal you away from At&t/Sprint” bit. yeah, they are #4 and they know they have to compete in a different fashion. Trying to go head to head with iPhone? that would be a huge failure… this is the right thing to do. Let the faithful T-mo users jump on this and it will be a success for T-mo. I would get this, but I genuinely love my HD2… but not crazy about touch screen keyboards and have decided that my next phone will need a physical keyboard. So as super as the Galaxy S is, I want a real keyboard.

    • The Prophet Mohammad

Don’t lump the iphone in the same category as this piece of crap.

      • mingkee

        Jihad for the phone?!

  • Vinnyjr

Great phone but just received my Nexus One and let me just say it is lightning fast. Feels good in the hand and talk about a crisp screen. This makes my blackberry 9700 look like an ancient invention. Still keeping my blackberry but this Nexus one is fantastic and did I say lightning fast. I type in a web page and as soon as I hit the go key it is there, no wait and did I say it’s crisp and clear.

  • gootman

This date falls right in line for upgrade eligibility for the people (myself included) that preordered the g1.

  • mingkee

If it has 3.75G, 2.2, and faster engine then all set.

  • Suineg yob

This is just an iPhone 3gs with minor design and menu updates. All of the icons are set up the sameway as on an iPhone, they even have those dots to show which page ur on except just on top even the 4 four bottons to keep on the bottom at all times this is like a 3gs.2 or something

    • OH HARRO

…except for the fact that it’s running android, and what you’re seeing is just the apps menu which is infinitesimal compared to the rest of the OS

  • zapote21

Samsung just sent out invites to a major event in NYC for June 29th… Lines up well doesnt it? LOL

  • Hinano

I am interested in this phone but I heard the camera has no flash…what the hell :s I hope this isn’t true for the final release…

    • ricknexus

What is the big deal with having no flash for the camera?!?! How many pics have you taken with your flash cameraphone only to find out is all white washed out??? Samsung is not stupid, the camera on this phone will be great, just bring your point and shoot out at night! I can’t wait for this to hit t-mobile. My contract is up and saddly i am growing tired of my nexus already. July 21st needs to hurry up!!

  • The Robot Devil

What is the author’s issue with T-Mobile that he
finds any reason to bash them?

Sure, the company is run by idiots, they have no idea how to market, and they treat their employees like crap

Putting that aside… their products and services are
very good, the network is solid and their pricing is excellent.

    • FML

“Putting that aside… their products and services are
very good, the network is solid and their pricing is excellent.”

Are you kidding? Their products suck. I think that’s pretty much the point. The only thing they have is customer service and that doesn’t get you new contracts. Plus, if the customer complaint is that they can’t get a decent device, it’s not going to stop the churn rate either.

      • The Robot Devil

I have no love for T-Mobile as a company, but their products are fine. True, they don’t have every device that customers want…but who does? Customers will always complain when they don’t get everything they want for free.

      • mingkee

Then we put you as CEO, but if you fail, you’ll be put to death.

      • The Robot Devil

        I’d take that if offered.

    • Bunifa@SprintPOS

Apparently he think’s the EVO 4G’s crappy ass WiMAX “4G” network and AT&T’s drop a call here and there network is so better than T-Mobile’s.

So late into the summer.. is next month. Yeah OK buddy.

The Galaxy S trounces the EVO 4G with T-Mobile’s new HSPA+ and it’s Hummingbird processor. The iPhone is.. the iPhone and AT&T can keep it along with their 2GB data plans.

      • FML

All the tmo fanboys love your kool aid. Know why? Cuz it’s all hopes and dreams. Find me the Tmobile FCC test. How are they going to sell a phone that isn’t sanctioned for use in the USA?

HSPA+??????? The only Galaxy S we’ve seen is on AT&T’s frequencies. That means EDGE for Tmo users.

All you tmo fan boys need to read up before you start posting garbage rumors.

      • Bunifa@SprintPOS

You’d have to be retarded to think that T-Mobile and Samsung would allow this phone to be officially sold through T-Mobile with no AWS 3G. This phone has past the Bluetooth SIG with the model number T959 which is 20 numbers higher than the Behold II (T939) which also was 20 digits higher than the Behold I (T919).

It’s all hopes and dreams right?
        http://www.tmonews.com/2010/05/samsung-galaxy-s-confirmed-for-t-mobile/

Take a look at the icons there. Those are all for T-Mobile USA you fool

  • http://Facebook Ken

I’m sorry to say this but samsung made a promise with the behold 2 and the didn’t honor that promise..and the behold two was a battery draining brick of a phone.tmobile nor samsung did anything to address these problems ..spend your money on a nexus or mytouch slide..

  • tyraelos

In my opinion, apart from the brand name, the Galaxy S is superior to the EVO and the Iphone 4 in several ways.
I could be absolutely wrong, and I totally accept that to each his own but I’ve compared them all and really apart from Wimax which is unique to/for sprint right now, and HDMI out which, God forbid I need hdmi out from my cell phone for anything…I prefer to have the features that the EVO and Iphone lack, vs. what they have over the S.

A beautiful amoled screen and onboard storage are just 2 reasons. Imagine this beast on Froyo? The screen is a bit bigger than the Iphone 4′s, the phone itself is a tad smaller than the Evo (not a huge plus) and it’s got Wifi N which is nice to have.

Really, again, in my opinion the ONLY thing the G S has against it is the Samsung name, and I’m hoping and praying they’ve learned their lesson with the whole Behold II ordeal.

  • Sean76

Lol…there network is so spotty, what a waste of a good phone.

  • Supersonic FTMFW

Love me some spunk. Kudos on the last sentence.

    • Bunifa@SprintPOS

      All over your face too?

  • PHug

    “but hey… They’re the nation’s fourth-largest carrier for a reason, right?”

    Made me LOL.
    ZING!

  • JFA

pretty nice phone for T-Mobile, hopefully this is the start of something BETTER.

Now that the old CEO is gone, and the one from Deutche Telekom (i forget from where) is in place maybe they’ll start getting new phones to compete with.

FIX THE NETWORK THOUGH, its pretty good for me, BUT IT CAN ALWAYS BE BETTER, lets say when i go to the mountains once every year or 2.

    • mingkee

      From Holland I remember.

  • ricky tick

i hope that rumored htc sidekick twist will drop along side this one… project emerald would be kinda nice if that happens…

  • mingkee

What the HELL a troll is here to degrace Muslims?????

  • anonymous-x

The Galaxy S is CDMA, right?

    • The Sgt.

      Yes it will be.

  • http://androidtips.com AndroidTips

The article left out one important feature though.

The phone will support mobile wimax and will be released on Clear.

  • ron

Looks like another early model iPhone. Apple will keep two steps ahead.

    • Chris13

Wow, based on what analysis exactly? Because its rectangular with rounded corners? in that case, your car reminds me of a golf cart… hence you drive a piece of shit.

  • ron

“What the HELL a troll is here to degrace Muslims?????”

Where do I get some of that ‘degrace’?

  • Topher86

I was all over this phone until I realized the camera has no flash. I know it’s a minor thing, but I tend to use my flash a bunch. Plus, it’s a “high end” device, how do you skip out on flash w/ a highend device? Main reason why I skipped out on the TP2, the other being WinMo. Add in the iffy set up w/ Touch Wiz, and Samsung’s janky approach to customer satisfaction…

  • Marco

A phone that shoots in 720 P, 30fps and NO camera flash ?!?! i don’t know what to say to that except for major fail!!!

  • JR

So how stupid is it to “launch” it on July 29th and then sell it a month later on July 21st? Are they thinking that they need to build up the excitement? I kind of get it but not really and Tmo doesn’t have time to waste because they are getting mopped up by Verizon and the new iPhone 4 (which will mop up anyway).
