How about some news for all you Google Maps enthusiasts? Today, Google has announced the addition of inline Map previews for its Gmail and Buzz products. The new feature will insert an interactive Google Map into your email or Buzz post containing address data or links to Google Maps. However, as Google notes: “Any Google Maps URL will work, but we currently only extract US addresses (we’re working on making addresses around the world work).” The new feature, as with all new Google features, can be switched on via the “Labs” preference pane. Happy mapping.

Just when I wanted more visual evidence of Google spying on me I get what I wished for!

There are such things as Google Map Enthusiasts?

I am a Google map enthusiast for six years. When I was a subscriber of Map Room RSS feed, most exciting news about maps were always about Google maps.

This is pretty cool and eliminates the need to jump to the Maps application. Very cool in deed.

@Norm, I’ll play the devil’s advocate here…You don’t like Google “spying” on you, but you’re okay with Apple allowing ANY 3rd party application to access any of your contact data without you even knowing about it? Why the double standard? You think just because Apple “approves” an application that they actually follow through with the developer does in your personal information?

Forgot to add @Norm, you don’t like the “visual evidence of Google spying on me” but you’re okay if you don’t see it at all when it’s running in the background when you’re using that 3rd party Apple application right?

There is already a Chrome extension for that. The problem is, it won’t work on multi line address.

You can completely control your privacy. Not only by adjusting settings to products but also by not using them at all. Amazes me that people “complain” about free products they don’t have to use

You lose far more privacy by buying a house, getting a divorce, and being a government employee. Government public records reveal way more than silly and useful websites and applications.
