MetroPCS' first Android smartphone looks to be from Motorola

Rumor

metropcs-moto-android

It looks like MetroPCS is getting ready to hop on the Android bandwagon, as AndroidGuys has scored images of what is purported to be the carriers first Android handset. Featuring a styling similar to but much nicer than T-Mobile’s CLIQ, the unnamed Motorola handset is said to have Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR, a sliding QWERTY keypad, 3 megapixel camera and a 600MHz processor. The actual size of the capacitive display is unknown, although it’s likely to come in at just a hair over 3″. What’s the consensus on this one?

Unlimited minutes and data for $40 to 50, and 2.1 so its already ahead of a few other handsets. With the possibility to upgrade to 2.2???? I’d say pretty nice

      I agree

Like i have been saying. Every carrier will be prepaid in a few years because what is going to stop people from going to get something like this if it turns out to be a good handset? Its cheaper than the big 4 and you get 2.1!

If its metro pcs its probably going to be junk. That an its a piss poor network. Their best two phones to date are the Code and the Caliber, both are going for 250 and are mid range on any of the major carriers, so an Android handset is bound to run 300 or higher.

    Sum it up, so what.

    Looks like a Cliq brother!!!

$300 upfront for this phone, as I see it you get that back in 3-4 months using the big 4 pricing. I have not used Metro service so I cannot vouch for quality. But looks good on my LCD. I would give it a try, if i hate it “Craigs” the phone and get money back.

As long as u live in an area where Metro PCS service is solid, I think its a really good move. Yea the phone will be a bit pricy (probably around $300-$350) but with an unlimited plan around $50 thats pretty solid. Id love to do the cheap prepay if they had the phones & service. People laugh at prepay because its cheap like paying more for phone service makes it cooler but i dont buy that. Good move Metro

Now if Virgin Mobile got something like this I would even leave my SERO!

I liked metro, Only switched to Boost for the 3G. with my Touch Pro with Android on metro it is so slow downloading or doing anything on the net. Nice for most folk but ill stick with Boost.

    VICTOR!!! HA! Metro PCS!

I like how it gets Android 2.1 with MOTOBLUR and the damn Cliq has no update in site. i bet everybody else will be getting 2.2 or some newer version before the Cliq gets 2.1

Seems like every carrier is getting nice android phones except tmobile

  • yea

that’s a wonderful move and specially with there new network metroPCS is working on i am so getting it as soon as it comes out!!

  • duh

I hope this will be for the new 4G LTE network coming out. Android AND 4G!? Nawwwwwwwww.

I have MetroPCS and the HUAWEI 750 with calling plan to Mexico (unlimited) and have had no problems. Service is excellent, price is right, and now Android!! Way to go Metro. Lets see if AT&T or Verizon can meet or beat this!

I have been laughing my butt off at people with contracts and minutes for years, I have used Metro PCS for going on 7 years, and I have saved thousands.
Every month I ask my self why does not everyone use this service, I can’t remember the last time a call was dropped, I talk to friends and family all over the country. And it’s always just $50.00 a month. I wouldnt even consider any other carrier, and if there is something critical I need to do I have my laptops, 3 of them all paid for by Metro PCS. Rock on. And if you have not tried it. You don’t know what you are over paying. Long live prepaid.

I like my Metro PCS service. $50.00 a month can’t be beat for unlimited everything. This Motorola looks like a great phone, I am anxiously waiting for it to hit the stores and go on sale. If it’s a 4G compatable it is MINE!

I am loving the sliding keyboard and the larger screen. I hope it comes in colors other than black or grey. Looks like it might be a blue one displayed here.

I have had Metro ever since I’ve had a phone, and with every new phone, I have had better quality and service. I am looking forward to the Android, but the real question is…When is it going to hit stores?? I am not very patient.

  • mr pcs

Going back to mark twain over here metro isnt crap. Its really good and expanding getting a lot better every year. Their the first to launch a real 4g network because sprint hasnt. they set up their phone but no new network yet. everyone is still 3g with no 4g till next years end. Every carrier including verizon has areas with bad service but learn some facts before you start talking. on another note for androids and smartphones the plans go for just 50 for all the services unless they decide on it being 60 like the black berry but thats for its special features and such.
