Two Sony Ericsson Android handsets leak

Rumor

se-android-leak

Sony Ericsson’s been having a really tough go of it, but it seems to really think that Android is the solution to all of its woes. Recently two of its upcoming Android-based handsets leaked out, so let’s tackle them left to right, shall we? The white handset on the left is said to be known as the Shakira, sized between the full-blown Xperia X10 and the Xperia Mini, and might just come to market this fall as the Xperia 10 Mid (ugh). And then there’s the strange QWERTY slider on the right. Apart from giving a shoutout to the form factor of the HTC Shift, this curious device looks to have a display in excess of 5″ and is said to run on Android 2.1. What do we think, gang? Do you think with handsets like these Sony Ericsson can start making some serious cash, or will its trials and tribulations continue until it starts thinking out of the box?

It was only a matter of time until they released their Androids

Android 2.4 or even 2.5 will be out by the time these phones come out lol. Sony is always late in the game and their phones are always too expensive when they come out

And it won’t support multi touch and SE will be stubborn about updating to the latest Android version. Oh, and no-one will work on rooting it so anyone who buys it will be stuck with a phone with an outdated OS… (maybe I’m a little bitter).

@pjcamp : I couldn’t agree more with you. I for one am not even minutely inclined to look at Apple products due to their totalitarian stance. As far as Sony goes…. well, maybe I’ll keep an eye on what they’re coming out with in the future (as far as Android is concerned), unless they change their stance on DRM, it’s a no go for me. I’ve got an entire collection of some fairly rare cd’s backed up on my computer and I’m not about to buy something from them only to find out I can’t listen to some of my favorites

SE pretty much stopped being relevant after their P910, which was in 2004. If they are able to bring to the market what they did back then, people will certainly look into their phones.

After waiting for the X10 and getting horribly disappointed, I left the SE team and bought a Nexus One. Glad I did, because the Nexus rocks!

That thing on the right just SCREAMS Psion.
