Sprint's activation systems come crashing down

Sprint seems to be having a great deal of difficulty dealing with all of the rabid EVO 4G fans. Throughout the day we’ve been getting scattered reports sporadic crashes of the activation system, but now we’re hearing that the entire thing has bit the dust and that lots of customers are being sent home with partially activated EVOs. What’s the situation where you are?

5 hours at best buy porting from iphone to sprint, system crashed best buy tech was on phone for 3 hours trying to get my EVO to activate, although people NOT porting where done in a little over 2 hours, still sprint should have been better prepared for the demand they knew how many phones were pre ordered so why not have your systems up n running , DUH! end of story the EVO rocks but will have to carry two batteries :( doesnt last more than 4 hours , 4G is spotty works outside but not inside my apartment, thus said Sprints 3G is faster than at&t either way , on 4G the phone FLYS

got mine at 8am sharp EST, from a Sprint store, so I guess I beat the “rush hour traffic” of activations later in the day. I was up online immediately.

I work for Sprint, the systems did crash but if you set it on wi fi you can fully activate.

purchased at Radio Shack around 9:15, returned it at 4:15. Sprint refused to activate it. I paid full price and was a new customer. Wasted most of my Friday on the phone. Dear Sprint, if you are going to sell a phone at full price, why do I still need to enter into a 2 year contract and be subject to ETF? Back to iPhone.

I worked Saturday morning at Best Buy selling the damn evo and it was the worst launch I have ever dealt with. Every upgrade took at least 45 mins and every new line took over an hour. Every system was down and trying to call any activation phone numbers resulted in getting hung up on with no answer. My sprint rep texted me and said “Sorry, we have no clue how to help”. We were flying solo with no help and irate customers. It was horrible. And even when we finally did get activations to go through the phones still wouldn’t program for at least another 4 hours after that. And some of the ports still haven’t gone through! Sprint screwed this one up.
