We’ve seen it in pictures, we’ve seen it in videos, and we even know when it’s coming, but just like you we simply cannot get enough of the BlackBerry 9800 slider. And for all of you dyed in the wool BlackBerry fans that are starting to go nuts with all of the talk of the EVO 4G and WWDC, here are some great news pics of the 9800 that surfaced thanks to berrytimes.cn While the pics don’t provide us with any new information per se, they are the clearest shots we can hope for until the phone is officially released and we whip out one of our EOS 5D Mk IIs. Hit the jump for more pics than you can shake a stick at.

Looks cool, kinda hip, but will it blend?

    • Tdot34

Hahaha don’t worry, if the Aluminum iPad will blend…. this definitely will

  • MR

I can just picture RIM execs walking through the office’s ready to smack the guy with the freaky finger nails.

    • Mr. Incredible

hahaha, look at his pinky nail in the 2nd pic. looks like someone need to lay off the blow! and or cut his nails

      • Wcurr

LOL, yeah, its both pinky nails, nice.

  • Tony

BlackBerry is good for email, and the keyboard is nice. I love mine. But I do have to say that the internet absolutely sucks. I always have to click links several times, trying over and over until I usually just give up. I’ve had feature phones with better browsing. I’m ready to switch to Android. I honestly don’t see how RIM is going to keep up if they don’t upgrade their servers/browser/etc.

    • MR

All newer higher end devices will be offering BB 6.0 and the webkit browser. this willbe included.

    • dean

they are. thats what os 6 is for

    • Tony

Ok but that still doesn’t change the fact that their servers seem overloaded. Why else would it take 2 minutes of “requesting” just to load a page? I’ve had 4 different model BlackBerries and they all do the same thing.

      • Nobo

Any chance you actually have crappy reception? Or maybe you are trying to access the same site on all 4 phones and the site is the problem?

I have had it happen to where some site just seems to stall off the start and then other it loads like a bat outta hell, just be the devils advocate.

  • Daedalus

Nowhere NEAR as ugly as everyone originally thought it was, thats for sure.

  • illa

    Couple of thoughts:

    – sexy and blackberry, two words I’ve never heard used in the same sentence.

    – Is it just me or is every blackberry just starting to look like some variation on the Ford Model T?

    – “Hey Look, Blackberry gave their device a new model number!”

  • Mercado

Wow, that looks like the phone Palm SHOULD HAVE made instead of the Pre. Nothing beats a Blackberry keyboard. Hope it makes it to a carrier near me!

  • Seabass

I love it and want one this is going to be my next phone the only problem I have is the battery cover looks really cheap, but I can get over it. Can’t wait to try the new OS6.0. dialing on the big screen looks like a nice upgrade I have to admit I don’t like dialing on my 9700 when I’m multitasking.

    • Mack Simmons

Get a Powermat and a special cover for it once the phone comes out. Solves the cheap cover problem and allows you to charge without the USB to boot.

  • Jayinwny

I just hope the touch screen works better that the Storm. That was TOTAL crap!

  • HEMI 922

It is a mingled combo of Curve (bodyshape), 9700 ( back), storm (touchscreen)

    • Eric

the back doesn’t resemble a 9700 at all.

  • Paul

My Storm still works well. No major complaints. I don’t want a real keyboard on a phone anymore.

  • DaveNYC

How’s ATT service in Austin, Texas?

  • Maxq

Is that a cute little camera I see with a itsy bitsy solo LED light 2 feet away from the lens? LOL. BB. You are truly amazing people keep buying your garbage. Hey if Paris Hilton and Miley Cyrus can use it, so can your average moron business person.

    • Nobo

Well we know youre not an iPhone user as that phone doesnt have a flash…

Youre not an Android user or you would have been making some pumped up statement about how “Android is the future” or some other fan boy comment…

Maybe youre just a troll with some type of sweet pay as you go samsung flip phone… tres chique!

  • Caffesilvia

Hmm. It’s an improvement over the standard BlackBerry garbage my old law firm made me carry around. But why do they bother making a slider if they’re going to shackle it to a portrait keyboard?

I know everyone praises BB’s keyboards but I think it’s because they haven’t had anything good to compare them to. They’re better than a Palm Treo, yes, but still a misery to type on. (My fingertip covers about 5 keys on a BB “keyboard”.)

    • LostPlatypus

It sounds like you have polish sausages for fingers then…

    • Killer

      put the donuts down… fat-finger-having-lawyer-fag

  • Dragon

It looks decent. I wish the bottom were less rounded and more squared off like the look of the Storm. It looks bulky. I don’t need a super-thin phone, but this looks much thicker than the Droid. Oh well, beggers (US GSM BlackBerry Touchscreen wanters) can’t be choosey.

I hope the webkit browser is ready for prime time (acid tests show that it may be), and that it will be LTE-capable for a year or two down the road.

  • FreeRange

Looks like a clunky POS – bulky, awkward to hold and use.

    • FreeRange’s Dad

Kinda like your mom was last night son…

  • Caffesilvia

My fingers are perhaps a bit larger than average (I’m 6’1) but certainly not anything special. Look at the keyboard! They have attempted to cram a 26-letter keyboard onto a 2″-wide surface. The individual keys occupy a space smaller than the head of an eraser. How could it NOT be an inferior arrangement?

What’s the problem with pinky nails? Some people have more translucid nails than others hence the pinkish instead of whitish look.

  • cz2sy

    where can i buy it?
    how much?

  • jerry

I’m sorry .. these are far from Sexy..the back is nice .. the front is ugly .. the slide is ugly as well..

  • http://keyboard brooklynrab

does anyone know if the keyboard is the roomy bold 9000 keyboard or the tiny 9700 keyboard. if the latter, i’m switching to the HTC Incredible — have tried it and the touch keyboard is surprisingly easy to use for email in landscape — couldnt force a mistake.

  • Worked For Me

“Nowhere NEAR as ugly as everyone originally thought it was, thats for sure.”

It was those pics of that early prototype or whatever, that thing was ugly. This is decent. I just need a good phone for emails/internet, I don’t care about dumb apps… I’ve never been a BB fan, but I would look into this. One thing I miss having an HD2 is a physical keyboard.

  • RWK

Any info on UMA for the 9800??????

  • Ellery

If the OS is stable, the sliding mechanism is rock solid, and the touch screen and gesture recognition works reliably, and the keyboard is as kick-ass as my 9700, this is gonna be one of the best phones to own. Period.

    This is my next phone.

  • kesh

How ironic is it to see RIM getting banned on UAE, well here in Asia, it’s even more popular then the iPhone. Can’t wait to see its latest RIM 9800 on Today..
