Sprint launching Motorola i1, Samsung Intercept, 4G in more markets

samsung-moment-2-release

Thanks to one of our connects, we’ve scored a shot of Sprint’s playbook which contains some upcoming launch dates. The first on the list confirms that the Motorola i1 we scooped way back will definitely launch on June 20th in stores. However, it won’t be available in stores for purchase until July 11th. Next up is the Samsung Intercept M910 (what some have referred to as the Samsung Moment II). The presumably Android-based Samsung Intercept is due to launch on July 11th as well, for online and in store purchases. What would the nation’s first 4G carrier be without some 4G market launches? We’ll see a number of cities get lit up for Sprint Speed in July, and some of these include Rochester, NY, Syracuse, NY, Kennewick, WA, Pasco, WA, Visalia, WA and more.

I SMELL AND SEE A HUGE COME BACK FOR SPRINT!

  • Bash2cool

What about NEW YORK CITY!! that’s more important than Rock or Syra….

    • CD4L

I’m with you on this one! I like EVO but what about the 4G in NYC? Seriously!

      • HoboMonkey

Come on! Let Syracuse be in the limelight for a change. Finally something good for the city.

      • MrDoom

Heck yeah mate, this’ll make the Evo worth that extra $10/month for superspeed. Time to rub some Android goodness in my iPhone junkie friend’s face.

      • Ron

When they launched the evo here is syracuse they had 4g running and the speeds on it are great and I was glad to see that syracuse got the spot light for a change over other places cause we are the last to get it usually

You’re definitely thinking Visalia, CA, not Visalia, WA.

  • Electrofreak

    Woot! I’m Rochester NY!

    :: Fist pumps ::

While I’m not getting an EVO 4G (sorry, IMO the Galaxy S wins, and if you want to know why, Google “Hummingbird vs Snapdragon” and check out my article on AlienBabelTech; I know, shameless plug) this is still good news.

4G in my home city is ALWAYS welcome.

Does anyone know about a 4G launch in Los Angeles ?

    • webby

So Cal & S-West US incl Phoenix are officially lost and neglected by Sprint 4G.

    • Josta

4G is already available in parts of Los Angeles: Hollywood, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Westwood, and Downtown ALL have 4G service, speeds of over 10mbps.

  • Anthony

could samsung intercept be galaxy S for sprint?

    • CD4L

Probably not. Its most likely the Second version of the Moment as BGR states. The Galaxy S will hit Unlocked first around the world GSM Networks first. That seems to be the pattern for companies like Samsung, HTC, Nokia, etc… But I have to agree the Galaxy S is a very sweet smartphone. It would be a hit here in the US on Sprint & T-MO.

hopeuflly most websites drop the moment 2 name from the 910 then since I been saying all along its not the moment to like a mini moment

  • Anthony

I wanna see august and september now!

  • david

Can i haz 4G in New orleans???

    • 3 Phones Jugglin

      Gotta get decent 3G first…

  • Onceuponatime

Rochester NY? Really!?? I may reconsider sprint..

  • MIKE

Question is – what’s the “Slate launch”?

    Upcoming tablet?

    • Josta

Yes, google “Slate Tablet”, this was announced about 6 months ago.

    • Trevor

The Slate is a new computerized phone diagnostic tool used in full-service and advanced-replacement retail store locations. Not a consumer device :)

  • Roger A

I just noticed that in June/July Sprint is changing Nextel and CDMA rate plans…. ooohhh, maybe tiered data?

  • Mark

wooooo ROCHESTER haha no need for the city.

  • Nunya Bizness

GIVE US A EVO WITH A KEYBOARD !!!!!!

    • Bouncy Elephant

FOR REAL. If it had a physical keyboard it would be perfect (for me). I fail at 100% touchscreens….absolutely fail.

      • 3 Phones Jugglin

I will never downrank sumone who respects an EVO yet feels a Qwerty Keyboard…..(Even a shitty one) would put the EVO over the top…oh…and one of thos new 1.2 or 1.5Ghz processors.

I went into a Sprint Store and Checked out the Evo today….and as much as i drooled and gawked…..i still noticed i was standing there texting about it from my TP2

  • grotty

Is the i1 launching on sprint or nextel? I thought the i1 was iDEN.. (Yes I know nextel is owned by sprint) I’m just trying to get the facts straight..

    • Nick

      correct. its an iden device

  • kingjames

Really Rochester and not Buffalo this cant be life… WTF?!

  • http://www.xerocomix.com funny

4G by SPRINT will be a huge hit and sales with its latest model and cool feature.
This will be a huge hit in the market

  • http://www.thedigitante.com Andy

Really? The Tri Cities in WA and Rochester/Syracuse are getting 4G yet a 1M+ city like Indianapolis isn’t even on the list of future cities yet? WTF Sprint?

  • Me

OK to those of you who are like oh sprint is cominig back YOUR WRONG.Not to be rude but the exact oposite is happening. Nextel and Boost is soon going to be the only things holding Sprint up and Sprint is gunna have to merge with Tmobile. Ya Okay Evo 4G yay yay features. WRONG. Ok everyone knows that sprint has the crappiest phones(with the exception of the evo) compared to verizon and the only reason why they still get customers is because of their plans. So now with the evo your going to have to pay $200. Alright not to bad. Now add $10 to your everything plan which is $99. Alright so now its $110 every single month. And thats not to say if you have a family plan. If you do than your screwed and there is no way in hell your getting the evo 4G unless your rich. SORRY. Okay now on the Motorola i1. In one word AMAZING. Small, compact, durable, and I hear its amoled. It has absolutaly everything to be an iPhone 3Gs killer and it absolutally is. However most android phones are though. And the evo already killed the iphone 4G before it even came out. (Not Sprint, HTC/Google).

  • BLaZeBCF

Turns out it will be the Samsung Galaxy S Pro with its Hummingbird processor… I will definitely be returning my EVO!

  • Nunya Bizness

What is the launch date for the Samsung Epic 4G ?????

  • jed297 jones

  • TJ
