Could this be the Motorola Shadow?

Rumor

Could this be the Motorola Shadow? According to HoFo user wnrussell, it is. Spotted with DROID branding in what appears to be a draft copy of a user guide, the Shadow looks to be sporting some sort of custom overlay that’s more than likely the oft-rumored update to MOTOBLUR. Just in case you’re memory is a bit rusty, here’s what we think the Shadow is all about: 4.1″ to 4.3″ WVGA display, 8 megapixel camera with 720p video recording, and a TI OMAP3630 processor. Other rumors have the Shadow capable of outputting 1080p video thanks to a PowerVR SGX530 GPU, and possibly being as thin as 9mm. Whether or not it ships with Android 2.1 or 2.2 is a bit of a contentious issue, but many are speculating it will ship this July with the former and rapidly be updated to 2.2. We’ll see.

no it not in trouble. Maybe your just a fuckin idiot?????

Like the front camera in the Evo is even good. It is absolutely awful in quality. Go look up some reviews.

It doesn’t have to be god’s gift to Helmut Newton for 1st generation video conferencing. 99.9% of the people using this will have a cellphone on both ends, with the 3-4″ screen that just doesn’t make a beautiful camera an absolute necesity.

I use 1st generation because, for all the methods there are for video conferencing, it will not be widespread among the masses until a device that every consumer has contains everything necessary for 2 way video conferencing. I think this will become widespread once every cellphone has a front facing camera.

In time people may talk to someone on their cellphone from their home and use their 1080p 50″ plasma to see the person. But now, it’s in the beginning stages. It’s a gimmick, that isn’t going to be used widespread due to the lack of consumer devices that support the feature. So, big deal if it’s not perfect, having a beautifully specced 8 megapixel camera on the front of the phone will do nothing but add more to the cost of an already high priced device.

As long as it doesn’t have MotoBLUR on it, I’ll be fine. If I want an experience other than stock Android, I either want (a) a custom ROM or (b) something by HTC.

Frankly, no one else seems to be able to do it right.

    • narunetto

If that box is a screenshot from the phone, it does have BLUR. That top bar is the bar from BLUR not stock.

      • OpenSourceIsJustaPhrase

the new BLUR looks nice then… exciting shit dudes

    • http://rossmanngroup.com Louis Rossmann

The only BLUR I look forward to is tom welling every thursday night on smallville.

      stay off my android phone.

that screen looks nice a big. Two deal breakers….

    1. It must have a physical QWERTY keyboard for me.

    2. I must be able to disable MotoBlur.

Not really a deal breaker but I won’t to overclock that 600MHz to at least 800MHz which seems to be the sweet spot for my current Motorola Droid when it comes to speed and battery power.

    • StevenGlansburg

You don’t need a physical qwerty if the phone has a good on-screen one, but then again if you want that you’d get an iphone

      • Joe B.

Actually the onscreen keyboard on the Incredible is every bit as comparable to the Iphone. You don’t neccessarily have to go Iphone for a great touchscreen keyboard. I assume the one on the Evo will be equally as good.

Motoblur will never be Sense UI….

Why would they use a processor with less than 1 GHz processor speed? That seems to be the expectation now that the Snapdragon has come out, and all the best selling/most anticipated handsets (yes, with the exception of the Droid) are running Snapdragons or equivalent.

    • vaxick

Numbers don’t mean everything when it comes to a CPU. When you get down to the technical details. OMAP CPU’s are beasts of a CPU. People just get caught up on the Sanpdragon CPU because it’s 1ghz, but in the CPU world, numbers do not tell the whole story.

Look at Intel and AMD. Sometimes Intel would release a CPU with a bigger number than AMD’s, yet the AMD CPU would actually be the better performing one.

    • Tek Vi

it seems a few new phones have been doing 1.3GHz Snapdragon. that would be pretty sweet

  • Jayhshmay

I agree with Mr. Flores, 4.3in screen is definetly too big for a cellphone. Personally I don’t keep my Droid in my pocket, that’s what I have a holster for.

      Holsters are for f-ing nerds.

Girls laugh at guys with holsters. It doesn’t make you look professional, it makes you look like a dork.

      Please guys, ditch the holsters.
