Verizon Apple iPhone to launch with simultaneous voice and data?

Exclusive

One of our Verizon guys hit us up with some pretty interesting news. We have been told that when the mythical Verizon iPhone materializes, assuming it’s not a LTE unit, it might launch with VoRA; Voice over Rev. A. According to our source, Verizon has been testing VoRA as a precursor to VoLTE, and as long as the network upgrade timeline and iPhone release are aligned, we should see this happen. If it happens.

I’ve done a google search on my Droid Eris while talking on the phone. Is that not what Voice and Data means?

And you were connected via WiFi. Verizon’s lame-ass “technology” can’t handle both over cellular. AT&T’s having the problems it has because it uses both over the same frequencies. I can’t wait for Verizon to end up tanking with all the Androids and potential iPhones hogging up its resources.

The only reason you cannot do data and calls at the same time is because the network focuses on one thing per spectrum, which gives a more reliable service eg. less dropped calls (unlike at&t’s crappy service).
