Verizon: LTE Android tablets and phones on the way

verizon-wireless-logo1Verizon Wireless Chief Executive, Lowell McAdam, told MSNBC that his company would, “offer a slew of [Android] devices, including tablet computers and three to five phones, that could run on its new LTE high-speed wireless network by May 2011.” Cha-ching! Android phones on Verizon’s network are nothing new, however the fate/destiny of an Android tablet has been murky at best.  Details on the aforementioned tablet are scarce, however, at the Reuters Global Technology Summit Lowell announced that LG, Motorola, and Samsung would all be competing to create an Android tablet for Big Red. There you have it folks, LTE and Android in May of 2011…let the countdown begin!

    Well it’s about time we heard a concrete date to miss from one of these carriers. Sure, they may even launch on time, but most likely most of the country will not see LTE service then. Soooooooooooo, we can squeeze one more device in and still get the LTE devices with next summer’s/fall’s early upgrade price. ;-)

    Tablets aren’t new. The HTC Shift came out a couple of years ago but beats the iPad in every category.

    We can make it go real fast but were going to cap your speed unless yoou pay us a mizzilion bucks a month.

    and HSPA is faster 21mbps, AT&T is smart the way the are doing LTE

    Just to let everyone know,LTE IS coming and it will be sooner than most will expect…and if everyone loves a technology built in 1948 (AT&T) then go for it. but the smart thing to do would be to trust android and verizon to always be on top for a very long time and to embrace the great things coming our way from Verizon and Android

    mobile guy, your an idiot. hspa at 21mbps is only theoretical. LTE is way faster (including in real world). by the time att gets LTE verizon will be working on something else to pull away from the pack. you must be an iphone huggin hippy that will be stuck in contract with at&t until after big red gets the iphone.
