We’re sure you know all about the upcoming LG Ally from Verizon, thanks to yesterday’s exclusive scoop, but just in case you’re having a bit of amnesia, here’s what you need to know. Verizon has officially announced that online pre-orders for the Android 2.1, QWERTY, slider phone start tomorrow — May 13th — and the phone will be available nationwide on Thursday, May 20th. At $99.99 on a 2-year contract, after a $100 MIR, the Ally isn’t exactly cheap… but it’s definitely affordable.

This is the crappy Verizon design we’ve come to know and love!

    • VZWHoustonRegionalManager

On second thought, I might pick this handset up. I’m tired of the same iPhone design too.

You are the ultimate troll… but at least you are using the correct name now

        You are the ultimate troll.

I love it how people use my name, it makes me feel important.

      • http://www.killchan.com C-c-c-combo breaker!

Why is that, the latest LG phone’s batteries are teh suck? Maybe its just the people I know…

Wow, you guys really ran with that vzwhouston name from Monday, didn’t you?
It seems like that’s where half the comment sections are from.

be quiet. and stop taking my name you troll.

I just can’t get over how the Android OS looks so cartoonish.

Kinda like Luke Wilson and his AT&T commercials…

Once you download torrents directly to your phone, you’ll get over it.

I don’t understand the line “the Ally isn’t exactly cheap… but it’s definitely affordable.”

All smartphones cost the same. My Droid = someone’s incredible = someone’s iphone basically when it comes to Verizon/ATT. We all will have to pay 29.99 for data and the minute plans are basically mirror.

This phone would hypthetically require you to shell out 200 dollars off top and get 100 back. I know some stores will give an instant credit, but that’s besides the point.

The point is that you’re not getting a special discount with this phone, or almost any phone. I would hope someone isn’t looking at phones and deciding that saving 100 dollars today is going to make a huge difference tomorrow. You’re going to have to be with this phone for at least 1 year, if not 2!

That’s why I advocate buying the BEST phone possible. And this…this may not be the BEST phone. Compare it to the droid and only the design is better. Compare it to the incredible and it gets left in the dust. Then again, I don’t know, I might be missing something…

I’m picking up what you’re dropping, sir. I’ve wondered the same thing as I sell smartphones to customers. Why would they want a Nokia Surge or Garmin Nuvifone, or Samsung Jack over an iPhone, Blackberry Bold, or Tilt2? That’s why I have NEVER sold any of the first 3 phones. I can’t bring myself to sell something I can’t stand behind.

I have never owned a smartphone, I currently carry the LG env touch. I’m ready to move up to an Android, but I might not be ready for all that the incredible can do, the ally is probably sufficient enough for me.. not to mention my budget keeps me from buying the BEST phone. why pay more money for more than I need?

    Hi there LG,

2008 just called and want’s its Blackberry Storm 1 back.

    • VZWHoustonRegionalManager

I will trade you my iPhone for your Blackberry Storm 1… my iPhone is so 2007.

    • Penetrode

You have a horrible eye for phone design! This looks nothing like the Blackberry Storm!

  • FML

Half the RAM of a MyTouch Slide but also half the price. Tmobile is pretty screwed if their competitors keep dropping better or cheaper phones than them.

    • Steel

Umm.. I don’t think T-mob is screwed if it comes down to any pricing issues. Their plans blow the competition out of the water. It’s their coverage that is screwed.

  • Ira

I don’t see why Verizon releases any of these phones. I just got my HTC Incredible, which is very aptly named; and would do it again and again and again.

    Horde FTW!

Oh, my bad, I saw ‘ally’ and flipped out.

    I am Forsaken.

  • Frank

Thanks but no thanks – all these Android phones continue to flood the market until none of the mfg make money – that will lead to substandard hardware. I’ll wait for the iPhone 4G

  • Frank Hater

Frank your a idiot, let me guess you bought a Ipad and walk around using it as a phone because its the next apple crap that came out right?
