This morning, the crazy 16-month ride is over, as the ASUS Eee Keyboard has begun shipping via Amazon. Originally slated to be released in June of 2009, the Eee Keyboard was delayed until August, then October, and then fell off the face of the Earth until pre-orders finally kicked off last month. Running Windows XP, the Eee Keyboard packs an entire computer — complete with an Intel Atom N270 processor at 1.6 GHz, 1GB RAM, 16GB SSD, Wi-Fi b/g/n, HDMI out, built-in 5″ WVGA multitouch display and a battery rated for 4 hours — into the pretty tiny frame of a keyboard. Want in? That’ll be $599.

Thanks to our tipsters!

THis thing was made 3 years ago. HELLO IPAD!

  • Mr. Sky

I doubt anyone will buy one of these.

When it gets down under a hundred bucks, let me know.

      At $150 for 2, i’m in!

  • SKINNI

I WONT KNOCK IT BUT SEEMS TO BE OBSOLETE, IMPRACTICAL, USELESS, BAD IDEA, ECT. THE PRICE IS ABSURD. ILL ADMIT I DIDNT NEED MY IPAD & COULDVE GOTTEN SOMETHING ABOUT AS GOOD FOR LESS BUT FOR ALL THE GADGETS I OWN I WOULDNT SPEND MORE THAN $50 ON THIS THING & THATS REALLY PUSHING IT!

I agree with the other, way too expensive, should cost as much as a low end netbook.
That said it is more functional than the iPad. Great and easy way for someone to knock out some at home work and transfer files to the cloud.
Tops $300. If they can do it for that, then maybe. I for one am waiting for the Google Pad. Everything I do on a computer is usually involved with Google one way or another so it just makes sense for me.

You people do realize it costs money to build these things correct?

My droids faster then this POS

lol, is this a couple years long running April fools joke?

  • DarkCobra

Six Hundred bucks large and I get Windows XP? Who are they kidding?

    • Jake

They’d have to sell it cheaper if they put Windows 7 on it.

  • Mike S.

Will the next version have a hex keypad and an 8-digit LED display?

  • EraserXIV

    too little too late.

    LOL.

What a bunch of morons in the comments who seem to think that this has something to do with tablet computers.

This is one of the first wireless HDMI devices available and costs $400 less than the Rocketfish WirelessHD Adapter, which does not include a computer, a touch screen, or a keyboard. The only cheaper solution is from a company called TruLink, and they still charge $500 for just the adapters.

This is an elegant HTPC solution that fits in a drawer when it’s not in use.

If my PS3 didn’t look so good next to the TV, I’d consider it.

    • NuShrike

Too underpowered to be a HTPC. Maybe as a router or some other light cpu use-work.
