It’s a no brainer to wait for the myTouch Slide. Hopefully Garmin advertises their new phone adequately because I really don’t think people will be lining up for this on launch day.

Been there, Done that, Watched it Fail..

I’m sick and tired og BGR always putting down all the new T-Mobile phones, how come you did not mention that it will be HPSA+ capable? or how about the cool heavily custom Garmin UI on top of Android? or the nice 3.5″ screen?

Come on BGR get with the program and leave your negative comments to yourself. When Tmo announced the mytouch slide BGR was there to talk shit about it too when everyone eslse thought it was a great handset.

If it would be ATT launching it you would be all positive, but let me tell you something…..go and f*** yourself BGR and LONG LIVE T-MOBILE.

Att did luanch it.. I promise. It was not positive..

but not on the to-be fastest 3g network and running android, even if it’s 1.6 most phones will get upgraded to the newest 2.1 anyways.

the at&t garminfone wasn’t android and it was kinda slow. this one, i had the opportunity to try it out and its really quick. the os is simple so theres no slugging down the speed. 200 is a bit much but its a solid phone and it will probably go down to a reasonable 129 eventually. T-Mobile is notorious for overcharging phones when they first come out. but eventually they cozy in.

No, that was the Nuvifone…completely different phone. Nice try, though! Sorry, no consolation prizes.

Knock knock… Who’s there? Fragmentation… Fragmentation who? Android. Funny ehh? Releasing a 1.6 device in june when 2.2 should nearly be out. Android… what a joke!

    this article is silly.

let’s talk about: (vote for one only)

    - the oil spill in the gulf of mexico
    - arizona’s new immigration law
    - the latest pakistan bombings

  • AT&TAtlantaRegionalManager

I expect this phone will be as aweful as the first with minor improvements over there first attempt

  • droid

    one word: NO

  • AT&TAtlantaRegionalVP

    Arizona’s new immigration law

THIS PHONE FAILED WITH AT&T. THEY ARE GIVING THESE AWAY. NOW HERE IT COMES WITH THE NUMBER 4 FAILURE NETWORK IN AMERICA.

    • Bunifa@SprintPOS

So is AT&T #1 FAILURE NETWORK IN AMERICA?

good move for garmin. they should have started with android to begin with instead of throwing away money on building their own os. they could have save a lot of time, effort, and money.

  • user

I think Garmin should just concentrate on releasing Garmin XT on Android as an app.

    Sygic
    Copilot Live
+ others are already competing while they are choosing to make phones.

I’m not sure how making phones is going to help them. Is there more margin in hardware + software integration?

I can’t wrap my head around 1.6 either, but I do know a few things about the device from an inside developer. First, it is the only 1.6 device (as far as I know) to include full multitouch out of the box, and apparently a sweet implementation at that. Second, it acts as a full PNG even without network coverage.
