Verizon and Google are working together to bring a tablet to the U.S. market, Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam today told the Wall Street Journal. Part of Verizon and Google’s join aims to bring the “next big wave of opportunities” to the U.S. wireless industry, the Verizon-Google tablet is intended to clip the wings of the ever-soaring iPad. While he declined to discuss which company will be responsible for manufacturing the tablet or even hint at when it will be available, McAdam did note that the tablet is symbolic in that it highlights the intensifying relationship between the two companies. The question is: Will it be Android or Chrome?

UPDATE: Bloomberg is reporting tablet will run Android and that more details will be announced this week.

The same Wall Street Journal that said Verizon is getting the iPhone? Do they have some sort of exclusivity deal for Verizon news?

More on topic, competition is a good thing. I look forward to hearing more.

If verizon and Google have such a “strong” relationship, why is Verizon airing Bing commercials?

I think AAPL makes great stuff. I use a 3 year old Macbook Pro and will likely never again buy a windows-based computer. However…while the iPhone is a cool device, I somehow equate it with a Prius. It’s not the hardware (or car) I can’t stand, it’s the smug, self-righteous owners that bug me. My M-Droid kicks ass and I look forward to seeing GOOG bring some competition to the tablet space.
