Rumor: Verizon working on iPhone ad blitz for this summer

Rumor

verizon-wireless-iphone

Take this with a handful of salt pills…according to a hot new rumor, Verizon has tapped advertising firm Landor Associates to handle a summer advertising blitz for the launch of a CDMA iPhone. Landor, the people behind the BlackBerry logo amongst other things, are said to be focusing on the branding side of things while TBWA — the firm that has been handling all of Apple’s iPhone commercials — is likely to continue its role. Rumors of the iPhone heading to Verizon have existed for what seems like time immemorial — remember that it was Verizon which declined the original iPhone before it went to Cingular AT&T — and culminated this past March when The Wall Street Journal claimed it had confirmed a new iPhone will indeed be carried by Verizon before the year’s end. Of course, now that we’re positive AT&T inked a 5-year iPhone exclusivity contract with Apple, we have to hope that the contract is null and void for this rumor to become a reality. Let’s just hope for the sake of healthy competition that this all pans out. Wouldn’t that be something?

Grammar Nazi checking in. Go back to school typofag.

You shouldn’t end a sentence with a preposition. Your second sentence should include a comma between school and “typofag”.

If you’re going to be a dick, you ought to at least try to be right.

You should not use contractions (“shouldn’t” and “you’re”). Also, the period should be before the closing quote in typofag (should be “typofag.”).

iPhone useless on WCDMA. no voice and data simultaneously = FAIL

I have never used voice and data at the same time on my iPhone…to me that is useless and I cant wait to see if it ends up on verizon. That is all…

Actually, an iPhone over Verizon’s EVDO network will not handle the processing of data better than an iPhone over AT&T’s HSPA network. HSPA is the better and more reliable technology, and it is faster. The slower technology will detract from the phone’s qualities and don’t forget it wouldn’t have simultaneous voice and data.

The phone will be on the 4g network and the voice will be evdo-1xrtt…So it will do voice and data as if that really matters
