Rumor: Macbook Air refresh, 27-inch display due this Tuesday

General

Macbook Air Front

Macworld.com.au is reporting that a refresh of Apple’s Macbook Air is scheduled for tomorrow. Having successfully tipped the last Macbook Pro refresh a week early, Macworld’s source has a proven track record when it comes to Apple laptop refreshes. The source claims the new Air will have the Apple part number MC516LL/A K87 BETTER BTR-USA, and is already visible in Apple’s inventory system. The source goes on to say Apple may also announce a new 27-inch LED cinema display to compliment the 24-inch model already available. We would like to see a MacBook Air packing, at minimum, a Core i3 and 4GB of RAM, oh…and a 27-inch display that actually works would be nice.

How would a 27inch display on a laptop even be productive. It would look like your carrying around a TV. Size aside should be cool.

    • Justin B

That’s what I thought, but its for a cinema display.

It doesn’t matter. If Apple makes it the sheep will buy it. Come on who would buy a giant Ipod Touch? Sheep!

      • abc

Who mentioned the iPad…I mean giant iPod Touch?

    • Mike2128

      They’re separate items.

  • Bubba

    Macbook Air and Apple TV.

Why keep these things on life support?

Let them go, Steve. Let them go.

  • tino72

does it really matter..all too much money and way over priced for me to be inthe club..

    • StevenGlansburg

That’s why you jack rich suburban kids.
That’s how I finally got my ipod 10GB. I love this blue screen.

  • Allen

I’m hoping these are two separate items, can you clarify BGR? A 27″ MBA is just stupid. I could maybe see a 27″ MBP for a video editor who needs to be mobile? That even sounds dumb.

    • Andrew Munchbach

Yes, separate items. A 27-inch cinema display and a Macbook Air refresh of some sort. Sorry for the confusion.

27 inch display kind of defeats the purpose of a laptop doesn’t it?

    Decent specs, whats the price?

  • Dave Anthony

How are you gonna get a Core i3 in a MacBook Air when they couldn’t even get a Core i3 into the MacBook Pro 13″?

  • http://wearethestories.org Eric Gregory

How about an AFFORDABLE 27″ display. The current 24″ display is $899 and that’s an outrageous price for a display of that size. A television that’s 42″ (with more than one HDMI input) goes for less than that; a 25″ HD monitor from HP goes for less than $300.

I can pay extra for a computer that’s well-designed and has software/hardware integration (along with a GREAT OS), but I can’t justify shelling out 3x the going rate of the same monitor.

    FIX PLZ.

    • StevenGlansburg

Dude you’re paying for the ecosystem.
You don’t wannna get a non apple monitor…..
They crash, run porn and flash, and don’t sell 30million units in 17 days. Is it really worth saving the $600 bucks?

  • MacMan

Wtf. Do you people really think that they would make a mbp air with a 27″ screen ? Seriously. Oh and if you want affordable buy a dell or HP.

    • -

haha true, but the article was just written in such a way that the 27″ screen was intertwined with the mba twice.

a 27″ mba, now that would be revolutionary…

I figured Apple would wait on the new MBA, since it has potential to cannibalize iPad sales and distract from their new “shiny”. Then again, cannibalizing for a higher-priced item is probably okay, as long as the margin is better (which it probably is). Still, I’m surprised it came so quickly on the heels of the iPad.

APPLE SUCKS SO MUCH. PUT DROID ON THIS TO ACTUALLY SELL SOME UNITS. OH YEAH AND STEVE JOBS SUCKS!

    • StevenGlansburg

      For shame :(
Its android that I would put on it, not droid you dbag

    • kimbo

according to their latest earnings results they are selling products just fine?

      • TypicalAppleHatingDBAG

UM NO? DROID is killing Apple in sales. Can’t you read these BGR articles (albeit typically misleading articles)????

Apple needs a major overhaul and new ownership. They can’t last much longer!

      • George

First quarter result only. It’s going to take another 2 to actually see if it’s sustained or not.

Overhaul? Profit margins and shareholder response indicates otherwise….

      • Cold Dead Fingers

Adroid is currently eating the shit that Apple leaves behind. When one phone will outsell an entire OS platform, you know the OS sucks (hint: iPhone outsells all android phones).

  • JustinB

Anyone that needs clarification on this article is a total and utter ritard. Enough said.

  • Cold Dead Fingers

Cool I’m looking forward to the refresh! I wonder what the specs will be. If it has a core i3 and maybe 3-4GB RAM option I might consider getting this over a MacBook Pro. But, having said that, I don’t think Apple will outfit this computer with a more powerful processor, than their Pro line up. The again, nyou are paying more than $1200, so, I guess it wouldn’t be too bad for Apple.

    title fail

On the post: the word ‘compliment’ should probably be the world ‘complement’. Not trying to be mean, just pointing out a grammatical error.

    • u_missed

      You made a spelling error.

      • l’bourbon

        No, he didn’t.

  • Shumdit

I have one of the original MBA’s and 2 iPads (tired of the kids and wife fighting over the one I originally bought). It’s my money, so for all of you “haters” (this is the term, correct?) get over yourself and don’t worry about who buys a product you obviously have no interest in. I can’t see the reason in hundreds of $$ for a pair of jeans, but if my wife likes them that’s her business. By the same token, if you want to spend a bunch of money on a skateboard, car wheels, art work, wine, etc. it’s not for me to criticize your decision.
