Rumor: HTC EVO 4G launches June 6th for $200

This one would be best accompanied by a margarita thats glass is heavily laced with salt, but rumor has it the Sprint HTC EVO 4G will be available on or around June 6th for $200 on contract / $600 off. This information comes by way of one of Android Central’s forum dwellers who alleges a The Shack sales rep filled him in on the info after he spotted a bunch of promotional documents lying on the store counter. Of course it goes without saying that the odds of a rep being so in the know are highly unlikely, but we so badly want to believe this one.

    I work at at The SHACK and read all those documents and nothing about the release date or the price is mentioned. Anything anyone says has not been backed up by documents. It’s all speculation. Hopefully it’s right though x]

    Not true – the Sprint Evo promotion for which the winners would go to Evo launch events in 4 cities is ending in August, according to the official rule on Sprint site. Based on this, the Evo cannot come out in June – as the winners aren’t known then.

    It’s funny to see people get so defensive when a new phone on sprint might actually be something worth buying. At the same time it’s actually pretty sad where these same people turn to racism and lame stereotypes just because the phone is nice and people are talking about it.

    TB, sounds like you’re spreading a little misinformation.
    1) The trips aren’t to launch events, they are to 4G equipped cities that Sprint has preselected. The winners of said trips have to take them by 7/31/10. The winners are supposed to blog about their experiences while on the trips.
    2) The winners of the trips are the top 4 (out of 10) entrants of the contest giving away the phones. The winners will be known by 5/18.
    3) Out of those 4, 1 will be chosen (based on the public’s voting of all 4 posted blogs) to win the $4,000 cash prize.
