Palm Pre Plus available from AT&T on May 16th

Rumor

Palm fanatics who want to show their support for the HP-owned company in transition should mark May 16th on their calendars, as it looks like that is the day AT&T will begin selling the Pre Plus. Back in March, when AT&T announced the phone would be landing on its network alongside the Pixi Plus, AT&T committed to a pretty steep $149.99 on a 2-year contract. Whether or not that price still holds true is a mystery, although we’re really hoping it will be significantly lower in light of the fact Verizon is practically giving them away at $30.

NO THANKS !!!! I dont like phones that are on the way out .

    • user

Isn’t every phone on the way out?

  • will

Too little too late sorry palm/hp

  • Mom

People still buy Palm? Next they’ll come out with a new Palm Pilot.

    • Sam

I’d buy that for a dollar.

  • wallyson

I’m debating this one. Considering buying one off contract but I’m sure the price will be outrageous. If it had the Nokia N8 specs with WebOS I’d be near the front of the line to pick one up.

    • Sam

Around $500 is the likely out-of-contract price. I wouldn’t waste the money. Folks ahead of the curve were selling these Pre and Pixi models like hotcakes on craigslist about two months ago. Now people want too much money – likely the price of the phone plus their early term fee to go to another carrier.

      • Mike

        Around $500 no-contract pricing… I’d rather get a Nexus One.

  • jdizzle

Way to be late to the party Mike… as always. Kinda like stealing the story about cutting up the sim card to make it micro. Why don’t you call this site the copy and paste report?

    • Sam

Read a combination of Consumerist / Lifehacker for a week and you’ll see the same thing. About a day late and a dollar short, you’ll see one copy the other. While they do give credit to the originating author / site, what the friggin’ hell people? Sure, they both used to be under the Gawker umbrella, but that has long since passed.

Time to come up with your own articles.

And by the way, if you can do a better job come up with your own damn blog before you muddy up the comments here.

All of a sudden AT&T getting decent phones that arnt the iPhone??? They must be feeling the heat from big red

    • Darnell

Oh yea, a device big red can’t sell for over $50 really has AT&T jumping…NOT. This deal was probably setup way back and AT&T is simply trying to figure out how they can unload what they already ordered. Like most resellers of Palm webOS devices, they probably won’t be back for 2nds.

  • Pete

I’m pretty excited to go in store and try this out. I don’t think I’d get it (I really like Apple and ANDROID) but maybe playing with it it might convince. I was thinking of getting the BACKFLIP off contract (it’s only 350 bucks) but I’ll have to see…

  • Analyzer

NOBODY cares! Palm Pre … HA!

  • ceeaser

actully there has been alot of inquirys about this in alot of AT&T stores, the plus will sell very well still then august sept the new 1hz 4G webos phone is coming to sprint. Dumb comments on here, HP/Palm now with deeeeeep pockets sky is only the limit. All the naw sayers now will be holding a Web OS device a years time. As I stated before Android is a fad, a horriable non inovated OS, Palm will be forever wake up people.

    • Darnell

      That guy is HILARIOUS!!!

  • ceeaser

    analyze that you nut!

    • Drew

I analyzed your thought process and was left quite underwhelmed.

  • Mike

HP is going to have to do some serious marketing and turn out some awesome hardware to overcome the lead Android OS has.

    • http://cameron-schultz.ca schultzter

HP is a big-time MS partner. So either they’re going in a new direction (that would be nice) or it’s a back-handed way for MS to get a potential competitor off the table (more likely).

I know that has crazy-internet-conspiracy-theory written all over it but what the heck!?

  • Walt

If the original pricing holds true it would be $399 off contract.

  • Bigwillie

does anyone really give a fuck? Seriously, this phone is a year old and no design changes. Palm, we are waiting for a new design- next.

  • woowoo

I own a pre…..and must admit, this is hardly news…my phone sucks (awful hardware)

  • Marky Mark

I waited a year for this phone to come to a US GSM carrier. Too late Palm, you almost had my money.

I’m just going to wait for the 4th Gen iPhone and choose between it and the Nexus One.

  • goose-dookie

    seriously att !?!?!?!?!

dont they realize VZW cant give these things away. it really isnt a bad phone, ive had the pleasure of using one for a while. however…why buy a phone that does so little when you can get so much more for relatively the same price?

  • http://cameron-schultz.ca schultzter

Yeah, and on May 17th AT&T is going to start selling them for $0 with no contract when they realise HP just bought Palm and Verizon’s selling them for 1/5th the price! The lag time for a big company to decide anything and implement it is just ridiculous!!!
