Although there’s still 21 days to go before the Apple iPad is goes on sale in the UK, that hasn’t stopped Orange from whetting people’s appetites for the 3G model with its announcing its iPad-specific data plans. If casual 3G data is what you’re after, £2 a day will get you the iPad Daily plan which is good for 200MB until midnight on the day of purchase. Other than than that, £7.50 nets the iPad Weekly plan which offers 1GB of data, whilst the iPad Monthly plans go for £15 and £25 and offer 3GB and 10GB of data alongside  browsing at Orange and BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots (although a 750MB fair use cap applies) . If all of this is too much fuss, there’s always the option of paying 5p per megabyte. Both Orange and Apple will be providing Micro SIMs free of charge with orders being accepted starting May 10th.

Is there a carrier that will give us a unlimited international data – doesn’t matter how much it’ll cost, just so we can use it without worry…???

If you’re talking about the UK, Vodaphone and O2 haven’t announced their pricing yet, but is expeted in the next few days. One of them may have unlimited browsing. Personally, I wouldn’t go with Orange until the others have announced their pricing, as it may be a lot cheaper. In the US, at&t does unlimited for $30 a month…

      @ Efraim L.,

In the US this is what At&t is reportedly going to charge. Note though, no unlimited………my guess would be $299 if there was though.

Here in the US we have it good with AT&T offering unlimited. Alot of countries and companies don’t do that.

these price are crazy, there worst then in Canada and that means something !

At&t still sucks. Come to Verizon. We have the best Map in the WORLD!!

The usual rip-off prices we get in UK. The greedy mobile networks are holding back tech development. I might pay £25 per month for unlimited data, but not for 10gb.

Your are complaining about 25 pounds (~38 Can$) for 10 GIG, come to Canada, that where the Cellco’s rip you off.
A 5 GIG Dataplan costs more than twice of what you are paying for the Plan in the U.K. Apple shouldn’t let the Cellco’s sell the IPAD nor the IPHONE, they should sell it unlocked world wide and leave it to the Enduser to decide which carrier they want to use.

Personally, I don’t understand why anyone would buy the 3g iPad then pay these ridiculous data costs.

If you’re buying an iPad, chances are you’re already carrying a smartphone around with you. Why not just tether it to your phone?

Seriously, how often will you be using the iPad away from a wifi connection?

Then there’s the issue that when you’re using it on a 3g connection you’ll have gimped quality streaming video and quite probably limits on app store file size. You wouldn’t have any such issues if you used your phone as a wifi router then connected your ipad to it.

The only negative I can see against using your phone as a wifi router is battery life. Small price to pay for not getting bum raped with an extra data plan.

Orange UK should concentrate on providing a decent 3G service before charging these ridiculous fees

I think the Brits have it pretty good – it wasn’t to long away (yesterday) when in the US you were paying $50 a kilobyte (yes, I exagerate! And is it byte or bit?). On the three network I can get 2gb p/m for £5 payg – not bad – ’bout $7.50, though this effing pound is going up and down like a yoyo!

I tried to post via om – useless – so sorry if I’ve double poste!
