International iPad launch set for May 28th (Updated with pricing)

ipad-3g

Yes, the delay sure does suck, but everyone living in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK will be able to grab an iPad to call their own on Friday, May 28. Just don’t bother calling your local Apple Store to ask how much it’ll set you back because pricing will be announced at a later date. Live elsewhere? If so, we sure hope its either Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand or Singapore as they’re all penciled in to get the iPad come July. Just promise us you’ll play it safe and pre-order, okay? We wouldn’t want anyone to get left behind.

UPDATE: And we’ve got pricing. Since we’re an English-speaking blog we’ll stick to Canada and the UK. Check it out after the jump.

Oh and hopefully those countries have better wifi than we do here since that Kryptonite-Proof lead-like shell casing means you get a bar if you’re lucky standing right next to your router.

I have an iPad 3G 64GB and I am using it in Toronto right now thanks to this article. Full bars on 3G and full bars on WiFi. 3G is very reliable, and the WiFi gets very good throughput a good distance from the source broadcast. I am actually impressed. Much better reception than the iPhone. Further, there is a black plastic IR housing on the top to ensure good Tx/Rx to/from the anttennae. There’s 5 antennae inside this thing!

I’m sure AT&T 3G is great in tornoto, you may be the only one in tornonto on the network.

      • Ducky

There is no AT&T in Toronto. I would guess he is using Rogers.

      • Osoteo

How is he using rogers if its using mirco sim?
Rogers nor any canadian provider has mirco sim cards (yet)

So we are almost at par with the US dollar here in Canada (even beating it for a while) yet we have to pay $50 more for the iPad (before crazy taxes) and can’t even use the bookstore, most of the iTunes video store, Pandora, etc etc etc.

We may be the neighbours to the North but treated like a 3rd world country by the US market at times…

the iBook store will be launched on May 28th in Canada. It says it on the Canadian Press Release.

Any Canadian who really wanted an iPad already bought one in the States..

For all my Canadian friends use a USA VPN and create a U.S. Itunes account and enjoy everything our friends in the u.s. do like Pandora and ABC player. There is no reason to cry and hate the thing

    • Drew

Thanks for the recommendation, how would I go about doing this?

    • Pizzabox

Of course that works, but you need a USA VPN account

    Awesome!

WiFi + 3G 64GB version for me, please! Will be pre-ordering at Apple Store Rideau in Ottawa on the 10th!

  • Webbo

So once again we get ripped off in the UK.

  • Pizzabox

What $50 more in Canada! I don’t think I’ll buy it at this price since it’s only $499 next door. Pricing should be the same. I could buy a ThinkPad Edge 13″ for $100 more and I think a better value. I already have an iPhone, so no thanks Apple.
