Verizon Wireless to offer free Push to Talk for BlackBerry Tour 9630 owners

Rumor

blackberry-tour-9630-free-ptt

When you think of push-to-talk you might conjure up images of construction workers on job sites wielding yellow ruggedized handsets. However, recently Verizon rolled out push-to-talk to its business-centric BlackBerry Tour handset in an attempt to bring PTT to new industries and work places. The adoption rate for this $5 monthly service has apparently a bit sluggish amongst Tour owners, as Verizon is reportedly launching a new promotion that will allow 9630 owners to add the PTT service to their line…for free. The free price tag is not a short-term gimmick either, as the $0/month figure is valid for the lifetime of your handset (*cough* trackball *cough*). Interested Tour owners can download the PTT software and activate the service prior to the promotion end-date of June 30th. The leaked slide did not indicate whether this promotion extends to current customers who already pay for the service, or if it will be extended to other BlackBerry handsets. We’ve sent some feelers out and will let you know what we dig up.

Wow, thats nice. I left Verizon two years ago and never would have thought they’d do something like this. Nice indeed.

Takes me back to the Mid to late 90′s when I was using the orig PTT (Nextel) in the Las Vegas area. It was actually quite a change from using our old Motorola “Radios”. Hell, you could “Walkie-Talkie” it and make calls.

Funny. 1 bloc that doesn’t pay attention posted about this yesterday, and all the others pick it up and post about it today without checking it out. PTT has been free since it launched a month ago for the Tour. Too bad people read and trust marketing from a carrier without doing any independent research. Way below normal BGR standards.

They claim it free. But Verzion doesnt give you nonething for free. The DEVIL are in the details.

Thats good, but who cares ! Lower the fee for the sub par so called “internet service ” inatead, paying 30/month on iphone android or any others, u know what u pay for besides email and text, what the hell do you pay for here? Unlimited text and web should be no more than 10/month, max ! For the crap that they provide
