In the real world, the early bird catches the worm..and in the world of mobile technology, the early bird gets the phone. Such is the case with the highly anticipated HTC DROID Incredible, which debuted early this morning on Verizon Wireless’ website, and sold out within two hours. We don’t know how many units Verizon Wireless had on hand, but the initial inventory is long gone, and all new orders will not ship until May 4th. If you absolutely must have Android’s latest and greatest handset, you will have to try your luck at your local Verizon Wireless store. Happy hunting!

Thanks, VZW!

I just got this phone. I’m still hard as a rock!

I’m holding out for 5G. Why waste money now? I’ll wait

    • Da

That should be in about 15 more years. Good luck with that.

can you use corporate email (exchange)?

    • Elrabin

Yes, you can. Complete with security profiles, remote wipe and global lists.

Although Verizon’s website was indicating that my new Incredible would ship on May7th, the surprise in my email this morning indicates that it would actually ship in two business days. Must be relevant to my proximity to one of the warehouses.

After 8 years of being a loyal customer, I’ve given up on VZW! Yes, I’ve played with the Incredible in the store, admittedly, lightning fast; highly responsive; great still and video capture; test call clear as a whistle; internet was blazing; yes, Incredible. However, still leaves one yearning for more; a larger screen and a front-facing camera for video chats [ C'mon GUYS it's 2010 for God's sake ]. Can you say EVO 4G, I will as soon as it’s available. Why does Verizon insist on undermining the intelligence of their consumer base? And, didn’t they learn their ‘Sold Out’ lesson with the Touch Pro 2 back in September of 2009? TP2 was never available in stores amd ‘Sold Out’ on-line for weeks (about a month to be exact); do you honestly think that VZW will replenish their inventory by Tuesday??
Who is responsible for their Inventory orders, Beetlejuice ???

    • Jordan Lewis

UM….LOL PAPINYC…You haven’t had to suffer through Sprint’s service yet. ENJOY! Droid 2 comes out soon, and all the above will be fulfilled. How can you discredit VZW when no one on the market has the front-facing camera and larger screen yet?

VZW bought 150,000 Incredibles…they’re almost identical to the Google Nexus One…which sold 25,000…maybe it was a good call to be cautious?

Regarding Sprint’s service (and customer “service”): Exactly! I’d rather have a RAZR on VZW – or even AT&T :)

Regarding Inventory: Since the recession everybody has been tight on inventory – while the customer doesn’t like it the retailer takes it in the shorts when over stocked.

Guess I was right. For all of those who disliked my original post above on April 30th at 10:04 AM, according to Verizon’s website as of 9:40 AM today, Wednesday, May 12th, 2010, orders for the HTC Incredible “WILL BE SHIPPED by 5/31″ (wish I could post pictures because I took a snapshot of the screen). Guess it’s ‘Beetlejuice’s’ way of not admitting to the masses that, again, Big Red did not order sufficient units for the new device launch and the Incredible is really SOLD OUT. I predict that the ‘SHIPPED by 5/31′ date will change again (because VZW keeps pushing back the ‘SHIPPED by’ date) to sometime in June. Or, if we go by the Verizon iPhone release ongoing rumour mill; my guess is new orders will SHIP by 2012. I’ll be enjoying my EVO 4G.

I know posting as like #800 on a chain means this response is immaterial, but for all those who said “i ordered yesterday, it shipped …” should ALSO note that it shipped 3 day. I ordered yesterday too, and it shipped yesterday … but it will be DELIVERED on the day VZW is stating. The topic heading on this article is still accurate.

Its probably a little late to post, but when i called verizon yesterday the rep said that they had about 17k of these in stock.
i placed my order yesterday with overnight shipping and my phone is out for delivery today, not sure if the website is being cautious or if they held over some stock for phone orders.

Just switched to an Incredible from a Droid. Coming from someone who travels quite often, the fluctuation of RF is quite annoying. Definitely not as solid as the Droid, but a much better device overall.

    • Maher Salfiti

Can you ellaborate why you feel it’s so much better? I’ve heard pros and cons for each phone, but I’d like to hear your comments/thoughts.

ordered on the 29th and got it on the 30th@ way to go Big Red! this phone is phenomenal!

I hate it for those of you who does not (little play on words) have the Incredible. Bought the first one out the door from my local store yesterday. Have the Moto Droid also. What did I do without these two devices all these years. DROOOID really DOES. Now if it would only cook and clean. Well I guess the wife will just have to keep at it. JUST KIDDING HONEY!!!

  • immichael

I was able to pick mine up costco.com’s wireless store. Their shipping it 2 day with free accessories. Doubt I’ll get it until Monday.

What is the deal with the number of bars and call quality? I was just at Verizon and talked to an individual who was already returning his due to these issues. Is there a weaker signal or is it just a technical problem?

  • ricktheprick

About the sunlight visability issue: the Moto Droid and the Droid Incredible perform virtually the same in sunlight. Neither are very good, but both are useable if one turns his back to the sun, and uses his own shadow to block the direct sunlight. I have done this experiment with both phones simultaneously, one in each hand. They are close to identical under these conditions. Making calls and viewing maps is doable, just not enjoyable.

The iPhone is the best in bright sunlight, but who in their right mind would want one of those? I’ll take the Incredible any time. There are always trade-offs, nothings perfect.

When somebody comes up with a perfect smartphone is about the same time we start manufacturinf flying saucers with atomic fusion engines.

Reception: I frequently go to a seriously weak fringe area. The reception goes all over the place trying to decide between 3G and 1X, and occaisionally drops calls. The Moto Droid and the Droid Incredible act EXACTLY THE SAME. I messed around with my wife’s Droid, and my Incredible for hours in this fringe area, and both had equal trouble, and fast battery drain. Both work equally well outside the fringe and into 1X-only territory, as well as into good 3G areas. I would say both have excellent reception – don’t worry about this issue.

    Hope this helps.

    • Dustin

Thanks so much for your observations! I live in Oklahoma and drive through the Western U.S. from time to time, so there are a lot of “fringe” areas as you describe. I just wanted to ensure I wasn’t giving up reception with the Incredible versus the Moto. Thanks again!

I also ordered this phone early this morning (2am), and despite what the website (and BGR/Phandroid) says, I got an email confirmation saying it was shipped out today, and will arrive via FEDEX on Monday. I was anticipating a delay, and pleasantly surprised when I got the email.

For all those ordering online, use the coupon code “freeovernt” to get free overnight shipping!

  • john

Ordered mine on Friday around 6pm EDT. Unfortunately couldn’t use use both the FREEOVERNT and the SMART30 promo code together so settled for $30 off instead and went with just the free Fedex 2-day. Should be getting mine in my *ahem* palm on Tuesday.

  • John

And now the website is showing shipped by 5/14. And has been for at least 3 days. Not too bad, considering it went from 4/29, to 5/4, then 5/7 in a span of 3-4 days.

Drat my new every two does not kick in until 5/8, who know what the shipping date will be then.

If you live in the western U.S. or Texas, go to an indirect called Diamond Wireless. I went in, bought an incredible, and left with one working and all my stuff transferred over. They are always simple and hassle free.
