Android Market surpasses 50,000 applications

AndroLib, the definitive tracker of Android applications, claims the Android Market has surpassed the 50,000 application milestone. This figure is unofficial as Google has been reticent to disclose actual numbers. During its recent earnings call, Google said it was aware of 38,000 applications, although the accuracy of the figures came into question as they were calculated at an undisclosed time. Last month alone, the Android Market was said to haveĀ grown by 9,330 apps. True, the Android Market still has a ways to go before it can rival Apple’s App Store in terms of the sheer number of applications offered, but this is some mighty impressive growth nonetheless. Love it or hate it, there is no denying that the little green robot is currently hotter than Hansel.Read

I guess Android is king of the hill now. With their 35 and counting different devices against one Iphone they should overtake the Iphone is months. Maybe 55 million in less than a year……not! Apple will not make that happen and they are masters at marketing. Nice to have an good alternative to the Iphone though. We’ll see what happens, you fandroids don’t celebrate with all your Iphone killers yet. Wow, this is my first troll post.

My issue with searching for apps on the Droid comes when you try & search from a web browser rather than a mobile device. Android for example has a very limited approach through web browsers(hate that). I have come to the conclusion that if I want to search apps on my laptop, I should use other marketplaces. I found the Facebook, AIM, & more on a site called RawApps
