Motorola leak proves the MING isn't dead

Rumor

moto-android-flip-leak

It appears Motorola isn’t willing to part ways the MING smartphone design as a pictures of a previously unseen Android smartphone with the iconic design have emerged out of China. Pretty much everything about this phone is a mystery, although it is rumored to be codenamed North Sea, run Android 2.1 plus MOTOBLUR 1.5 and feature a 5 megapixel camera that can shoot videos at resolutions up to 720p. Interestingly, there appears to be not one but two status bars which could mean this is a dual-SIM device. Not that this would be a huge surprise given the prevalence of such devices in China, it’s just that we’ve never seen such an Android phone from a big-name manufacturer. Would anyone be super sad if this thing is confined to China?

If only the Pre looked like this from the get go….

My 6th Pre Plus is arriving via FedEx in the next few hours. The Ming/Krave are built like tanks, your comment rings true to me.

The WebOS just isn’t that hot – think about it, it’s the only OS and the Pre seems to be the only smartphone that hasn’t been KIRFed yet…

You pitiful fool! My life is not for any Earthling to give or take!

  • moosc

Come on I want the MOTO Shadow on vzw. That will silence those stupid incredible phones.

  • roach

    oh sweet, the Droid Minger

    • rederikus

      They don’t understand.

      Thats pretty funny

    • roach

oh, now come on, that’s funny, are you really voting me down for that? It’s not like I bashed a bunch of people for trying so hard to sneak a peak at a droid’s minge. BTW I do actually love android and am counting days till I can grab an evo, this just happens to be a funny name, hey do you think with could us an i pad for those times during the month when you need that protection on your minge…

      Me too =)

Had the 1st gen Ming phone before the inception of the iPhone. Have to admit, the phone rocked!

The Ming is like a 7 year old design. Didnt they learn any lessons when no one bought the Motorola Krave?

  • bonesb

I’d get one, especially if it wasn’t fscked up by VZW and definitely if we got a dual-SIM version.

The Motorola MING (A1200) was released in Chine roughly 3 years ago, it had a clear cover case (flip style), stylus, and was touch screen. Similar to the Moto Krav, but smaller and came out a year prior to the MING, but in North America.

Question is, why would they use the same name for two devices?

  • LifeTrek (David)

I love my limited little Krave.

I would love this phone, there are virtually zero decent flip phones coming to market in the US. I chose a flip with less capability just for the flip.

The only thing I don’t like about the Krave is the limited options while it is closed. Hopefully this phone fixes that.

Could this be a 3-D implementation? (Didn’t motorola file for a 3-D patent recently, that looked similar?)

  • comedie

Maybe I’m the only one, but I wish there were more phones with flip covers. Just a piece of polycarbonate would be fine my me. Doesn’t even need to be an active cover.
No case needed, protective, and could still see who’s calling.
Dual simm sounds interesting too. Seems like only BB has been doing worldphones. Dual simm would be nice for really traveling and not having to swap simms back and forth.

I loved my Krave. This intrigues me.
