News

Apple Logo-Black + White

Apple posted its Q2 2010 results and to say they’re impressive would be an understatement. Beating analyst expectations in practically every way possible, the Cupertino company sold 2.94 million Macs, 8.75 million iPhones and 10.89 million iPods. Analysts were only expecting 2.7 million iMacs, 6.8 million iPhones and 9 million iPods to be sold. In terms of cold, hard cash, Apple’s revenue was $13.5 billion with a diluted earnings per share of $3.33 making for a net profit of $3.07 billion. As for the current quarter, Apple is expecting revenue to hit $13.0 billion to $13.4 billion with a diluted earnings per share from $2.28 to $2.39.

Oh I’m sure the fandroids will gather here and find someway to trash this posting.

God, I really hate when Apple does well. I hate that the iphone continually gets better each year. I hate Steve Jobs for the way he runs his own company that is no way owned by me. I’m just glad I have my DROID which is almost…errr way better than the iphone. Ok its not, but don’t tell my other Phandroids that….

    • TypicalAppleHatingDBAG

Notice we use Phandroid because the letter F is too popular and we want to be anything but like whats popular or Apple.

  • EVOnuffsaid

Actually I bet you guys because im on a Macbook haha

  • NoFan

**Note—Walmart had a drastic increase in Apple fruit this quarter and has actually seen shortages in some areas.** People are buying everything Apple related, mechanical or not! Its crazy…so next time I have a garage sale, I’ll be sure to stamp an Apple logo on everything and watch product fly of the tables! lol

    • EVOnuffsaid

let me know where i want it i love apples and apple logos

How can Apple post its Q2 2010 results when Q2 2010 just began 20 days ago on April 1st?

    • Ll44ll

Wow, you’re right, the whole world just played a hoax on you. . .

(look up when Apple’s fiscal year begins)

      • BBSwany

It’s fiscal quarter, NOT calendar quarter. Their FISCAL quarters start in October… *sigh*

    • http://justmy2t.com amani77

There is always one! Fiscal quarter…

    • Jason

      You are right!

I don’t care if I’m a Droid Fan or iPhone fan!

      APPLE IS RIDICULOUS!
Apple, stop thinking you will always win.

Your boring design, your boring interface, your boring *Multitasking*

  • jv91

hey BGR get off Apple’s d!ck

    • TypicalVerizonDBAG

      Agree with jv91,

We need more news on DROID products from Verizon. You guys haven’t mentioned enough about the constant flood of Android phones coming out that are all basically same.

      • Christopher Cox

I see posts about other phones all the time. Experia X10 slated for launch? No that isn’t on here. I would have never known the Samsung Reality was going to get released because this site never posted it right? Or the new Blackberry 9105? Or how about the Windows 7 architecture being leaked? BG never said ANYTHING about the BB 9650 .. nooo they sure didn’t. Or the Droid Incredible. Or the Android 2.1 update news for various devices. Nope. That information isn’t here.

You know what? It seems as if all of the news I have seen on other tech blogs pertaining to other devices show up here? Do you want him to conjure up more than what is going on?

You seem to just want ONLY Android news, or mainly Android news. If this is the case … why not go to an Android blog rather than one posting information from other devices. iPhone and iPad news happens to be big news right now. And yes, people IN GENERAL will pay more attention to the new iPhone as we come closer to release time. Like it or not, the general population like their iPhone news. It is big news no matter where you go. Except of course …. an Android blog. So why not go there?

      • MikeD

        @Christopher Cox

        Bravo!

I have been saying that numerous times on BGR. The Fandroids are totally out of control and seem to lack tolerance for any other news.

      • Gsm1

Quite sure Mike D, That ive seen you, jarrett, glandsburg, and a host of others on non apple threads giving some grief of your own.

      • MikeD

        @Gsm1

I dunno about the others. But GSM1 your charges levied are not true.

My personal mantra is buy whatever works for you. Talk about what you like about your choice, but the personal attacks and constant berating of people that use products different from your own is out of line.

I am a technologist. Not a geek. I appreciate most if not all technology. As I have said many times, You have to buy what works best for you.

I suggest Gsm1 you go back a re-read my past posts before I pull them out and prove your reading comprehension failure.

      • Gsm1

Why not go to a mac blog?

      • Christopher Cox

Because I love to keep up on WebOS news. I love to keep up on Android. I an interested in Windows 7. Admittingly though, I am no longer a BlackBerry fan even though I carry a work Curve and have been with a BB for years. I don’t want purely mac stuff. Have you looked around? EVERY tech blog has lots of iPad and iPhone stuff. This just happens to be the time close to release. Why? Because people like to hear news of the next upcoming gadget, and iPhone is hot. YES iPhone is number 2. But you know what? They became number 2 despite only being here for a few years and have caught up big time. No matter how you slice it … you can’t deny that is a HUGE accomplishment. BB is number one with the corporate crowd. I seriously doubt they are #1 when you count JUST the consumer sector. Case in point … I carry a BlackBerry daily. And I hate this damn thing. I carry it because it is provided to me by my work. Just like everyone I work with. Just like thousands of other people.

    • Christopher Cox

When these companies post stellar financial reports, the tech blogs are all over it. I have yet to see ANY of the tech blogs receive reports very often from very many companies. Like it or not, Apple is one of the few tech companies that consistently perform positively. Is every tech block on Apples d!ck as you put it? Is it there fault none of the companies are going as well? I seem to recall a post stating that HTC was doing very well a bit ago.

So, since very few of the other companies are posting as positive as results, they should just not post news from the most successful one? That makes absolutely no sense. You are full of fail.

      • Gsm1

Apple is 25% of the market in the u.s. 1/4. So 3/4 of people buy other products. Not sure where you come up with all your people in general statments? apple is still Number #2 in the u.s behind rim. with android who is still very young closing in. 1/4 is not all people in general.

      • Christopher Cox

RIM is only #1 because they have been top dog in the corporate sector. Their move into consumer space is relatively new. With Android and iPhone, the consumer trend is for app centric devices. Droid is EXTREMELY popular …. and Android in general is blowing up because of this. BlackBerry on the other hand has a very piss poor app economy. The few choices available for BlackBerry means app developers are charging quadruple what they charge for the same app on other platforms. IM+ for BB is $40 when it is $10 for a higher quality version on other platforms. Documents To Go? $40+ for BB version and $15 for the full iPhone suite. Should I go on? BB will slip because of consumer trend moving into the future. BB is failing to move with that trend. Android and iPhone are dominating. If it wasn’t for corporate sector BB would be out.

    • jvijil

I don’t recall ever mentioning Android in my post. I’d just like to see some variety on BGR other than Apple posts.

      • Christopher Cox

I was saying there is a wide variety of information on here … and it is fast moving at times. BG bosts Android stuff galore! EVERY piece of Windows 7 news I have seen on other tech blogs show up here. WebOS? I want you to name a large number of stories on other tech blogs that don’t show here. Round up stories go ahead. What do you want? They post a wide variety of information here outside of iphone stuff. Go ahead and compare what you see here to everywhere else. Yes there are LOTS of iPhone and iPad stuff. But you know what? That is big news until it dies down. Want to filter out the iPhone stuff? Just use the toolbar at the top of the page. That is what it’s there for.

  • EVOnuffsaid

how do you know apple isnt a she ?

  • Dogfather

Those numbers scares the crap out the Fanboys…!!!! No wonder slow-rizon wireless is crawling for it….!!!!!

    • DrPepper

Why would they scare me? Just because I use other phones, and dont have the same phone as every person next to me (like the razr days) dosnt make me a fanboy of anything. My kids have ipods, I dont want a pad of any brand, I dont need a status symbol, I need a phone or phones that I like.

  • Nokia N900

That new iPhone 4G looks an awfully lot like my Nokia N900.

    • Flavio Ribeiro

      I respectfully disagree.

I like the N900, but it’s too thick. The iPhones and Android phones are much more comfortable to carry around in a pocket.

      • Nokia N900

No, the N900 won’t fit in your “Skinny Jeans” I am sorry to say. O fone é para homens.

  • SoWhat

All these numbers mean is there are 8.75 million suckers in the world. But I don’t need Apple earnings report to know that :)

    • Christopher Cox

So just because you personally don’t like it … your not a sucker and everyone is? I love my iPhone and iPad stuff for many reasons. And no … I’m not an Apple fanatic. My main desktop is Linux based. I have a BlackBerry for work reasons. I don’t own any Apple products besides the iPhone. Does it really hurt your soul to hear many people love their iPhone? Do you not have a life?

      • jonathan T

I hear you, people seem to think that we own everything that is Apple. I have Ipods, and Imac and Iphone, but use a Windows 7 laptop and another Windows desktop. I take a Nokia N95 8gb when traveling abroad since its unlocked, and love my Kindle for reading. I actually like Android as another option to the Iphone OS, but the Iphone fits my lifestyle at this time. I don’t know how many folks are diehard Apple fans. Contrary to what the fandroids say, Apple does make good products. If one comes out which I personally think is better than my Iphone, then I’m there since I don’t have an all out allegiance for Apple. Apple news is hot right now and it seems like the haters go out of the way to get into Apple post and post negative comments.

  • Cadillac Jones

    Loving the fiscal quarter failure.

  • Cnote221

…My 28% pay cut helped achieve those numbers…

    Your welcome. SMH

  • ChocoTaco

    They blow indeed.

  • mpowerd

Yeah BGR don’t u have a yet another new Roid phone to be the next iPhone killer blah blah blah… I mean all the early Roid adopters are nearing ‘new every 6 month this Roid is better than the last Roid date’

  • Amar

Q2? This is April……how can aple already have Q2 results out already? Didn’t know they are that innovative

    • Mike

Companies fiscal quarters don’t always match calendar quarters

      • Mike

PS – As already explained in post 8

  • DrPepper

They are just Phones, some like ford some like chevy, buy want you want..I dont want to have somthing that everyone on every corner has, thats my choice. Reminds me of the razr days.

  • Brad

    How can Q2 #’s be out , we Just started Q2 April 1, 2010.

    • Mike

      Sigh, see the 8th post

  • Jables

Why would Android users troll this post? Android is an OS used by multiple manufacturers, not a company that sells a range of consumer electronics. Who would compare? HTC, Samsung, LG, Motorola?

    That just doesn’t make sense.

  • BothAreGood

The funniest part is watching Applites and Phandroids argue XXXX is better because of YYYYYYY. They’re 2 different user experiences, and both have their +’s and -’s. You aren’t gonna change each other’s minds by slamming the other. They’re both necessary to force each other to continue to innovate.

  • jonathan T

Broke down and made reservations for the iPad. Apple store called me today that my Ipad was in and picked it up and now I’m touch typing this on the iPad. I was hesitant to get this but now I realize that is sure does not feel like a giant ipod touch like everyone thinks it is. Sorry to tell the fandroids that this thing will evolve , and in 2 years it’s going to act like a laptop.

I have followed Apple since the early 90′s, and it is interesting to see how well they are doing these days. There was a time, as most of you know, when their future was in doubt. It is amazing how Jobs brought the company back with one, fruity colored, gum-drop shaped computer. :)
