BlackBerry Bold 9650 being announced at WES, available May 1st?

Breaking

We have just heard from one of our Verizon Wireless sources, and it is probably going to make BlackBerry lovers a wee bit happy. According to our connect, RIM’s BlackBerry Bold 9650 for Verizon will be officially announced at the start of WES next week, and it will start being available for purchase practically immediately. How soon? How does May 1st work for you? Sprint will follow shortly thereafter.

although theres a ton of phones out there with all the bells and whistles, the bottom line is blackberry just works. they aren’t the fanciest, but they get the job done. i would like to see some new designs but they are the best for what they do and that is e-mail. and there is absolutely no better program than bbm. that’s why i keep mine, just for that reason alone

This is going to be my first BlackBerry when it comes out on Sprint and I’m a bit excited. I’m coming from a Hero and I’m tired of how slow and unreliable the Android platform is. Of course there’s the Evo coming out this summer but at this point I’m firmly in a Just Works mindset.

Yea I get it blackberries are good for email I know that ihad one before. But I just dnt think its worth payin $30 jus for email

    • RYAN_OMG

sprint users don’t have the “additional data package” issue

The $30 plan isn’t just for e-mail, it’s unlimited data. That includes e-mail, BlackBerry messenger, and use of the browser and any other program that accesses the web. Same as any other type of smartphone.

that’s because you don’t rely on your phone to stay in contact with your clients and help you close business deals.

Would love to see some form of 6.0 on this device in the future

I agree with the BBM feature. That alone is worth it to me for the data plan.

I’m becoming curious if this is going to show up on Telus, as they’ve got the Bold 9700 already right alongside the Tour 9630.

    SWEET!

Six months later and we get a Tour w/ Trackpad and Wi-Fi!

I don’t know how other handset manufacturers are gonna keep up with RIM!

So pumped for this phone. And now seeing leaks of os 6 makes me happy that it will eventually get it :) Hurry up and post the phone so I can buy it

Spoke with a tech @ Red & she did’nt have any training notification for the 9650 & said wasn’t sure for the 1st release. I hope she’s wrong.

Prove to me that Verizon is getting it. my friend works for Verizon and has heard nothing about this releasing at all.

A VZW vendor in NYC I deal with regularly confirmed he’s getting the Bold on or right around the 1st and he was dead-on as far as the Tour’s release date. Not sure if he’s 100% or if he’s just going by what he’s heard unofficially, but if he didn’t know he wouldn’t have told me. I was in buying a new battery for my Tour and he would have told me he’s not sure to make sure I bought a battery now rather than waiting a week or ten days for the new phone to release.

Pretty sure I am going with the Evo. the 9650 is the Tour with some added memory, and a track pad, and was slated to be release in early FEB. They sent them back to coin the term “BOLD” on them. It’s quite pathetic actually. I have been following this phone for a while now on crackberry and I am just disappointed. The EVO is coming out at the sametime as the 9650, the choice is difficult for me (to leave bb) but it shouldn’t be.
