LG's LU2300 will be able to compete with the big boys of Android

Rumor

lg-lu2300

Although there are no guarantees it will ever see a release Stateside, details of a new and nicely spec’d smartphone from LG have emerged from Korea. Known by its model number LG LU2300, the Android 2.1 device is said to be on par devices like Google’s Nexus One and HTC’s Desire thanks in part to its 1GHz processor, 3.5″ WVGA AMOLED capacitive display, 5 megapixel camera, 720p DivX compatibility, DMB tuner and the always welcomed combination of GPS, Wi-Fi and 3G. As we alluded to above, there’s no way to know if the LU2300 will ever make it to this part of the world, but we don’t think anyone would object to having another supercharged smartphone to chose from.

Random thought: Could this actually be the “aloha“?

well.. the looks don’t really get me hot, but I’d sure like to play around with it to see if it’s a good deal.. too bad for the 4 row QWERTY, but still.. nice to see a new phone WITH full QWERTY at all! hope it will make it’s way to holland.

Good for LG. Their CDMA line was top notch for reception on Verizon (excluding the original Chocolate). I have always had great luck with their “dumbphones”, dating back to my first LG, the TM-510. When I worked for AT&T for two years, I was less impressed with their GSM reception and overall quality. But, South Korea is a CDMA haven, so one should expect that to be their area of expertise. The above phone isn’t the sexiest, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction for LG.

There’s no Back Button? As an Android user… basically that omission makes the thing unusable.

    Not bad!

-and a DIvx player? On an Android phone?
    First I’ve heard of it.

I stayed WinMo with the Omnia II i920 from Verizon.
WVGA OLED and Divx is very nice for media.

I would have been willing to try a ‘droid phone if but for that.

Honestly, why wouldn’t they want to roll this out stateside? I think there is a healthy enough interest in Android that they could fair well if released in the US.

That keyboard looks nice… especially WITH the 4th row. For the life of me, I can’t understand why people complain about that.

Are people complaining about 4 being too much or too little? I took it as people want 5 rows. I love the 5 row keyboard on the HTC Touch Pro 2. And I hate how the dpad is on the side and not just arrow keys on the keyboard. You use the keyboard way more than you use arrow keys and it is just annoying to have it to the side because it makes typing awkward.

All the manufactures should take a look at the Touch Pro 2 keyboard and learn how to make a keyboard. HTC needs to release a Snapdragon Android with a keyboard comparable to the Touch Pro 2.

IM LIKING THE LOOK OF THIS. THE BRUSKED ALUMINUM LOOK IS NICE

  • KINGDONGDOR

They need to update the lg qwerty phones for verizon, this should fit the bill.

  • freshh

doesn’t compete with the EVO so no thanks..

  • ChocoTaco

    Too many cons.

1.) Too small of a screen
2.) D-pad placement on the right
3.) And, of course, the biggest con of all: it’s an LG phone. Yuck.

not the best looking device out there, but there has definitely been worse.

I would still use it though, the QWERTY looks like it would take some real getting used to.

but FINALLY, and Android phone with a 1GHZ processor, AMOLED, screen AND a QWERTY keyboard……….too bad it will most likely not come to the states.

I welcome any Android phone with Qwerty…..Since apparently HTC doesnt give a shit about pleasing its Mogul, G1 & TP2 faithful.

  • Ebatr

I would buy it looks great to me and 4 row is the shit and keyboard makes it great for game emulators

Too bad they waited so long and it’s not launching “Really” soon. It definitely would be my first choice.

Is that a joystick on the bottom right? I know how those south Koreans love their games. Maybe that joystick replaced the back button

LG has disappointing me greatly with their LG Arena, and their mega lack in support. The phones look ok, and thank christ they arn’t putting out their terrible s-class UI.

    LG – Lacks Good-inovation

    • Jobe

true.. tv manufactures such as LG and Samsung should stick to just that, making tvs not phones refrigerators washer and dryers etc etc

  • Sonya

I like the looks of it. Also like the Qwerty. The only bad experience I had with LG was the first Chocolate, other than that I don’t know why everyone is complaining.

  • Nokia N900

That is a very nice looking phone!

  • Jobe

    good..u buy it then

  • nando

I like the LG intouch max (GW620) but am glad to hear LG release as ‘serious’ andoid phone. 1.5 just doesn’t cut it anymore!
