iTunes 9.1 now available, kills sync for some jailbroken devices

Software

itunes-91

Yesterday we got OS X 10.6.3 and today we have iTunes 9.1. The changes as stated in Software Update are some tweaks to Genius Mixes as well as the ability to sync and manage iPads. But the real news here is one major change that was not mentioned: jailbroken iPhones and iPod touches are now unable to sync with iTunes, or at least according to a bunch of feedback we’ve received (others report this is not the case). Bottom line: Unless you’re getting an iPad this Saturday, you might want to play it safe and not update to iTunes 9.1 until this is all cleared up.

I don’t have to jailbreak my blackberry, which is awesome

Jailbreaking for most is a personal option not necessarily a necessity. You have no idea how versatile the iPhone becomes afterwards. If you knew and could, you would too.

My jailbroken iPhone 3G running 3.1.3 syncs just fine using iTunes 9.1 on 10.6.3. AFAIK, this only effects users on Windows. I may be mistaken though.

I found a fix for Windows Vista/7 iPhone jailbreak sync all you have to do is go to C:Program FilesCommon FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers and select usbaapl.inf driver. Apples site is http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 if you want a detailed walkthrough.

I don’t have to worry about this on my Nexus One. No carrier locks or jail breaking needed.

Ah yes our favorite bloated media player. Over 100mb of joy. I can’t wait until we have iTunes OS from Apple at a mere 3gb. sigh.

Do not work: JB. iPhone 3G 3.0.1, windows vista.

Mine didn’t work for hours. I updated everything… turns out that now the iphone will only sync on USB 2.0 .. so if using a PC, try the other USB ports in the back of the PC. It did the trick for me..

I have 2 iphone 3gs . the one on 3.1 synced fine on all USB ports. but my 3gs on 3.1.2 would only work with the 2.0 in the back. Try that.
