Pre-order iPads now shipping

Hardware

ipad-deliveryIf you were one of the hundreds of thousands of people who pre-ordered an iPad from Apple, you might want to check your email inbox because Apple is now sending out shipment notifications. Not supposed to be delivered before April 3rd, it’s not entirely unthinkable that a confused driver might accidentally make someone an internet celebrity with an early delivery. Then again, most of the iPads are being sent by UPS, so it seems way more likely that a hell of a lot of iPads will show up late or smashed to smithereens. Missed your chance to pre-order and don’t mind looking quite the fool just so you can brag about being an early adopter? Then dig out your sleeping bag and pack some snacks because your only hope is camping out at one of the nearly 700 Best Buy’s with an Apple Shop or an Apple store. Just make sure you bring a tiny first aid kit, because each Best Buy store is only going to have 5 of each model (15 total) on hand. Things could turn nerd-nasty.

A BIG PASS on the iPad.

    Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).

Yipppp! I’m holdin out as well, jury is still out on this thing! Bring a 4th Gen iPhone to the table with HTC EVO type specs and you’ll get me to a store and with cash in my hands!

Gonna wait and see how this plays out before committing to one. I have a feeling it will be another Apple success though and other manufacturers are following too meaning tablets are the new wave of internet devices. Hey, I’m sure there will an Android tablet too for the Apple haters. Google will come out with Gtab. Seriously, I do hope there will be an Android tablet, competition and having a choice is always a good thing for us.

There are already several tablets running Android either out or soon to be out. Check out androidcentral, phandroid, or engadget for the exact names.

    Eew, mApple.

Cheap shot at UPS there BGR. I suppose you’d rathe FedEx or the USPS delivering them? Then you’d have a much better chance of damaged merchandise.

And going to wait and see on this too. So far Apples done nothing but drive ebook prices up. And charging for 3G? I hope the ipad is a million times better than the nook and kindle to justify that.

I second that. I can’t say how many times I’ve had a package come from Fedex on a Saturday and the lazy driver puts in that I wasn’t available so he doesn’t have to drive from the express depot. UPS has never failed me and the USPS is okay but more expensive for some items.

I can see the ipad being a even bigger sucess than the iPhone, I won’t be getting one right away but I’m pretty sure I’ll pick one up down the line. There’s got to be more than 50 thousand apps that people wish they had a bigger screen for it, like medical apps, sky charts, blue charts and a bunch of other ones.

The analyst at Morgan Stanley just said his 750K expectation for the June quarter loks more like 2.5 million!

2010 could be 8-10 million, vs. current estimates of 3-4 million.

10 million seems crazy to me, but who am I? I did read that some companies have been buying these iPads in bulk for their execs.

    We shall see.

Can’t wait, it was around Xmas when I finally realized how much of a drag the iPhones tiny screen was when I’m at home relaxing in the living room. It’s just easier to stream my media to my iPhone so I put up with it. I’m super cereal when I say if I didn’t need a tv for group watching of stuff, I’d probably dump my tv and cable. Bu that’s just me and I know that is not the norm.

    UPS >>> FedEx

FedEx royally sucks… i don’t think i’ve ever had an on-time delivery with them… they like to show up at businesses after they are closed and leave a post-it note… fucking losers…

UPS for the ipad delivery means successful on-time delivery!

Boy Retard up to his cheap shots yet again…

Received my shipping notice. Shipping from Shenzhen China? Can’t wait. Hopefully it gets here soon since I’m going out of the country next week.

Lets here it for no 3rd party multitasking!!!!! Hip hip….

  • patrick

I have to agree with BGR about UPS. Give me The post office or fed-ex any day. That being said UPS is better than the ipad. And if apple could put out a 4g iPhone with specs like the sprint evo with multitasking that would be pretty sweet. I am impressed with some of the other tablets and soon to be released tablets. Just not the ipad. Sorry guys. Just a big iPod touch.

  • Giorgio

Yeah I’ll pass. I agree with other posters as far the the next gen iPhone. If it has EVO or Sammy’s Galaxy S type features (I would be shocked if it did knowing Apple) the iPad would be a huge after thought.

  • jk

The 4G will come on the Ipad2. Just like first generation Iphone had 2G and the 2nd Iphone came with 3G.

Apple will get everyone to upgrade from the first model for the 4G.

  • Robman

HA HA I am a ups driver and i will make sure i step on your ipad before you get BGR!!!!

  • Srini

nerd-nasty? Apple and its collection of products have nothing to to do with nerdiness :-) Sorry, but the whole country knows that.

Although this is not Apple branded, it looks very nice: IPad Case http://www.quirky.com/products/30?r=78766185df9dedb795f8c4a0f4ddf5ba
