Maybe they don't hate each other?

Jobs-Schmidt

There has been quite a bit of noise around the purported relationship, or lack thereof, between Apple CEO Steven P. Jobs and Google CEO Eric E. Schmidt. The reported “feud” is based on a series of events — namely Google releasing a phone OS, Schmidt stepping down from Apple’s board, and Jobs calling Google’s motto “bullshit” — but it has yet to impact any services or products the two companies offer. Apple still bundles its iPhone OS with Google as the default search provider, as well as the “Google Maps” program, and Google still develops Google Earth, Maps, Search, etc. for the iPhone platform. The alleged tiff has led to some great cartoons though; take this Daniel Adel, New York Times offering:

As fun as it has been to wind up, a few images captured by a Gizmodo reader imply that perhaps we in the media should take it down a few notches. The pictures show Schmidt and Jobs having a cup of coffee, in public, engaged in civil discourse. The Giz article has a few “our tipster heard” quotes, but we’ll let you hit up said article for all the speculation. One thing we do know: the net worth sitting around that little cafe table is roughly $9.8 billion.

Steve Jobs sits like a girl

      • cartoon

Actually he is a transexual..he misses being a woman

    • hi

We care because Apple & Google have pushed a false premise of mutual hatred to the public. Sites like BGR ate it up and you lemmings believed it.

Motive: to get the FTC & DOJ off their backs. Steve Jobs and Eric Schmitt illegally colluded to conspire against Microsoft. When it became too obvious, Jobs pretended to throw Schmitt off the Board.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. An investigative reporter needs to follow this story. They will be rewarded with the scoop of the century -if they do not lose their life first. Google has Russian mafia connections and we know how journalist fare over there. Be careful, but be brave. This is a great veil waiting to be pierced. The Pulitzer Prize awaits you.

Steve crosses his legs like a fruit. His company is named, Apple, which is a fruit.

    Coincidence? I think not.

    • NuShrike

Actually, Jobs is the whole reason Apple moved away from the fruity colors in the Apple logo. The Apple was Woz’s idea, and did rip off the Beatles.

Jobs is wearing the same outfit he wore on that NY Times illustration, whoa!

    • badonkadonk

Steve always wears the same clothes. That way when he sleeps in the office instead of at home, you never know. Seriously. It also is part of his minimalist, nihilist personality – is is reflected in the designs and simplicity of the products Apple develops.

      • yourmom

If i were to wear the same outfit everyday, it wouldn’t be a pair of jeans and black shirt like that.

  • the doctor

They said “Let’s get together and take EVERYONES” money”!

You HAVE to love Steve’s black socks with the sneakers look! That is definitely the nerd look – if only he wore dress socks with flip-flops…

Its funny. People posting on internet forums get so passionate and enraged over their choices and loyalties for products.

Most of these big companies have very good relationships with one another despite advertising, lawsuits, and other points of contention. And the fanboys love the drama infused posts about harsh words, fighting, lawsuits, blah blah.

Remember when Microsoft came and bailed apple out in 1997 or 1998 or so not so much to give them money they needed but to provide them with investor credibility to show apple was still viable after years of mismanagement? The Apple fanboys and press remarked how ironic it was to have Bill Gates on that big screen after raking IBM over the coals in the initial 1984 big brother ad.

More synergies than acrimony between these companies. If I were Eric, Steve, Ralph, Lowell, et al, I would be reading the invective by most posters on blogs and forums over my morning coffee and laughing over how people don’t understand how businesses work and the backside relationships they have.

I think it’s time for Steve to change his look.

    • MotoRoi

Satan has looked the same for millions of years, why change now.

      • npcaseym

Can I ask how you know?

  • Sined

IS THAT AN iPAD ON THE TABLE?

  • JAG

why STEVE always uses the same clothes?

    is that an uniform?

    • MotoRoi

He,s to cheap to buy new clothes. He even convinced the girl in starbucks that he invented coffee, and she didnt charge him.

  • CB

I think Starbucks paid for this photo to be arranged.

    • MotoRoi

um isnt starbucks own by microsoft people, im shocked to see him drinking it.unless of course he,s convinced he invented coffe too.

  • andrew

i think they were talking about android vs. iphone lawsuit

  • PR from apple

this is nothing but, another publicity stunt from apple (mainly clever steve). Apple know that, they want google employees to buy iPAD and write apps for it.
Otherwise what was the need to release this kind of photo, few days before sales start? They would have clarify to media long time before.

  • cartoon

What else do you want me to do Eric!…I have to release my secret weapon..you think I wouldnt find out about that Evo..

  • Sean76

Ya gotta admit, without these 2 hams we would all be pretty bored without our iPhones and Nexus one’s! It’s all a power struggle, they make it work because at the end of the day it’s all about the cold hard cash!

  • http://twitter.com/johnmatsis John

I can’t believe Steve Jobs still hasn’t changed his clothes since the iPhone introduction in 2007.

    • yourmom

It actually goes back way farther than that.

  • http://www.fullchipdesign.com/tyh/computingdevice.htm tyh@

when did they snap this pic?

  • B

lol what the hell, Jobs? You’re a billionaire, but you always wear that same black shirt, and now, seeing your socks, it looks like it may be a full bodysuit or leotard underneath your jeans.

  • Avi

Actually as of lately you cannot seem to set up a gmail account through the exchange set up option on the iPhone. Seems like when u turn on the google sync option under domain settings the server doesn’t save the change and this is mo good.

  • Sliznut

is it just me or are BOTH of Stevie boy’s feet on the ground WITH one being crossed over more than any female can accomplish?

    • BlkBear

Yup both feet are on the ground. I see that a lot in people that have lost a lot of weight do to an illness or transplants. He was already skinny, but looks like he lost a lot more weight in recent months.

  • Roody

    Maybe he’s born with it..
    Maybe it’s Maybelline!

Sorry, the title reminded me of that.

  • LEY

Schmidt is falling right into his trap. Think everything is cool, then bam!! Jobs strikes. He probably lace Schmidt’s drink so he would tell him all of his future business secrets. I mean, since Jobs like to blatantly steal ideas, I wouldn’t put such trickery past him.

  • Stwevie

    Gotta love Photoshop !!

  • Evan McCann

It’s just like Tupac and Biggie. They weren’t enemies. The media made them enemies. It’s all about sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, sell. Then sell some more.

Google > Apple. Nexus one > iphone.

And yes, I’m typing this on my macbook… I love Apple, but Steve is a bit of a kook. He knows good software and hardware though. Google is just (currently) the best competition for Apple. Competition is always good! As long as both companies move in a more environmentally friendly, open standards way, I will continue to support both with my hard earned money.

Technology is beginning to get into Star-Trek levels. The next couple of decades will be EPIC.
