In a short and sweet event earlier today, Sprint changed the landscape for Android devices by announcing the HTC EVO 4G, a handset whose specs make it the top handset, cross-platform, on the market today. The EVO 4G one-ups almost every other handset in the Android platform with a feature set that includes a 4.3 inch touchscreen, 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, dual 3G/4G WiMAX connectivity, forward-facing 1.3 megapixel camera, rear-facing 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus and 720p HD video recording, HDMI out, built-in mobile hotspot functionality, custom web browser with Flash support, YouTube HQ support, and Android 2.1 with Sense UI. Starting this summer, the HTC EVO 4G will be available from all Sprint channels and third party retailers including Walmart, Best Buy, and Radio Shack. Tune in tomorrow as we will have a more in-depth hands on for you guys. Make sure to hit the photos in our gallery in the meantime!

Sprint needs to release it now, they might not be alive by this summer, and when the fourth generation iPhone is released, this phone won’t stand a chance.

I don’t think the new iphone will bring much to the table… iphone is starting to become yesterday’s news.

I gather the Sprint 4G they got when they bought Clearwire is 4-6MB, and the HD video reviews are impressive.

Verizon is supposedly 6 months behind.

It’s all coming folks, before Christmas.

    Ah, choices, choices. ;)

The next Iphone will probably be out in June/July. Don’t worry, it’ll be more popular than this phone. But it probably won’t be able to match this phone, feature for feature though. It won’t have 4G, that’s for sure.

I don’t think the iPhone has anything to worry about, but Blackberry does. This device has that wow factor, something the iPhone had it itself for a long time. WebOs in a form factor like this would be great also, I’m sure Palm is aware. Whats the next move for BB??

How much do you want to bet that the “custom browser” is really a mobile version of Chrome. Love that! Google rocks! :)
