iphone-4g-overdrive-promo

In the latest advertising campaign for its Sierra Wireless Overdrive 3G/4G WiFi hotspot, Sprint mocks AT&T and pokes fun at iPhone users whose smartphone is limited and whose style is cramped by the slow speeds on AT&T’s 3G network. In the world according to Sprint, the solution is not the next generation iPhone on the nation’s most improved network, but rather the slim and sleek Overdrive which can offer 4G connectivity to all those ailing iPhone handsets. Hit the jump to watch this clever, amusing, and possibly insulting promotional video.

Just imagine how many apples he has wasted trying to do a re-take of that commercial

too bad the idiots didnt think about brining out a decent wimax phone a long time ago so they didnt have to resort to this nonsense..

  • Diemer

The poke at Apple didn’t quote click till the very end.

Lol, their ad to promote 4g is to use it with iPhone. I see it as a complement to the iPhone.

I think people misunderstood your comment. It did compliment the iPhone. While I liked the Verizon commercials attacking ATT, they attacked the phone itself. The phone itself is very nice(I don’t have one, I prefer Android, and don’t like ATT) and capable. Just look what they do with it in the rest of the world out of the hands of ATT. I saw the commercial as a positive ad. They really did not attack ATT 3G, they said the phone was COOL. They just promoted 4G as being faster than 3G, and yet the commercial was pretty cool.

    not badddddd………
    have to imoproove….

The question is how many AT&T users are so dissatisfied with the service that they will do this extreme step (and that also to Sprint)? I am thinking not so many. Sprint don’t have WiMax in areas where AT&T has got network issues. Even if they do, Sprint will have the same kind of capacity issues that AT&T have. So I don’t see the point in all this.

    Supersonic 3/24/10

I like the subliminal message in the video with the apple, very clever indeed.

  • TomTpm

Well – now you see why SPRINT is the worse of all the carriers….

AT&T ….. LOL ……. I LOVE this commercial. Well at least those on AT&T can enjoy some 4G love while they wait for LTE

If this was available on a pay-as-you-go basis (like the MiFi units in the UK) and without a contract, then I would consider it. Otherwise, add-in the patchy availability of this 4G network and it just doesn’t fly.

  • Irene King

Does this mean that it’s possible that Sprint could be next in line for the iPhone instead of Verizon? Either way, the coverage has *got* to be better.

  • dom

Funny, if apples iphone was available for Sprint almost all of you would get it. Plus everyone mocks apple… all the new computers and phones act and look just like apples… funny, isn’t it.

  • RubexCube

Are we sure this doesn’t use to much battery?

  • RubexCube

@dom Palm had the first touch screen phone. My Treo 650 was great, there isn’t a whole lot different from that and the Iphone… oh wait…. I had bluetooth on my Treo.

    • iphonejeff

      RubexCube,

where have you been? iPhone has Bluetooth. I use it all the time for handsfree phone in my cars and for wireless stereo headphones at the gym.

  • person

only resion they didn’t use verizon because verizon faster

    • The Dark Lord

Verizon is faster, have you read any reviews lately. Verizon sucks, slowest 3G in most cities, very expensive and you cannot even multi task for all this money … ridiculous …

  • ecuteent

to those idiots that i bet in 20 years they would still using 3g technology,it is a lot of us in 20 years with 20g. I LOVE YOU SPRINT.

  • Dee

nice ad by Sprint.. its not really insulting or offensive to AT&T at all. Even as an iPhone owner, that actually is a great ad. Hopefully AT&T rolls out its 4G network a little faster after seeing this ad.

  • Matt

This commercial is GREAT! “My friend Steve’s iphone,” (meaning Steve Jobs) and of course the apple at the end. I hope that Apple makes an iphone available for Sprint (best data plans AND 4g), but I guess nobody knows what will happen with that.
