HTC Touch Pro3 to touchdown this summer?

Rumor

htc-logoAn unsubstantiated rumor out of XDA-Developers suggests that HTC is continuing its Touch Pro series of handsets with the third iteration expected to arrive this summer. According to the forum post, the rumored Touch Pro3 will be smaller and thinner than the current Touch Pro2 and will launch in Europe in Q2. With Windows Phone 7 Series smartphones expected to debut during this holiday season, the Touch Pro3, if it indeed launches, may be one of the last Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets to hit the market. Anyone interested?

You clowns constantly wanting Android on everything that comes out need to get a fucking grip.

    • jawman

it’s not so much the fact that it isn’t android, but that it’s win mo 6.5 and not the newer 7.

but being android wouldn’t hurt either :)

mmmm forget android I just wish android, web os and the business ability’s of rim/windows 6.5 would come together the multitasking/messaging of web os, openness and rapid growth of android/semi customization, the business capabilities of RIM’s blackberry os, and ability to customize like windows 6.x would be the single best os. You think a company would take it’s time and make a os like that, it has everything (if not everything feel free to add) that people could want, I blame the patent system we have.

My Jailbroken/Unlocked iPhone 3GS can download torrents… As a previous Windows Mobile user I can say that both the iPhone OS and WinMo OS have their pros and cons but if that was your attempt at trying to make the iPhone or Android devices look weak, it was a really sorry one… Haha

  • kamal shakir

probably upgradeable to winmo 7, oh and gees, find me an iphone or android that has torrent! http://www.wmtorrent.com

The slider QWERTY smartphone form factor always has a huge following. I used to belong to the camp where physical keyboard helps me attend to my heavy texting and mailing pattern. I don’t believe this will die. To have HTC come up with a newer version of this form factor for WinPho 7 is no surprise. However, I doubt it will be named TP3…

With Microsoft’s strict restrictions on number of buttons on a Win7 phone, would a QWERTY keyboard be too many buttons for them to accept?

Good points Winnie, but I think HTC will keep the Touch Pro line a WinMo based device, not WP7.

MS said that they will continue to develop WinMo right along with WP7. Since they are not abandoning or replacing it there will have to be phones for it.

Seems to me that since Touch Pro is an established WinMo based phone that it would make sense to keep it as a flagship WinMo phone.

Just my 2 cents on that.

  • San Francisco

It’s dual platforms morons. How many times do I have to say that.

MS is not abandoning WinMo 6..x.x

WinMo devices will sit on the store shelves right next to WP7 devices. You will have a choice, WinMo or WP7.

I had the Touch Pro2. It was a great device but I sold it to get an HD2. When HTC comes out with the TP3 I will buy that because the TP2 was the best phone I have ever had. WimMo 6.5.1 and HTC Sense made the phone one of the best kept secrets out there.

And yeah, I’d like to see a capacitive screen and the same specs as the HD2. That will be a sweet phone.

Those of you who diss WinMo or the Touch Pro2 simply don’t know what you are talking about. Fools. You are all a bunch of trolls and lemmings bad mouthing because it’s the cool thing to do.

Bunch of SFB mental slobs, you are.

    • Alan

San I agree with everything you said have these kids don’t know what there getting…TP3 when it shows up will be a worthy purchase. Let the fools pay for crap they think is cool as opposed to what it can do…

short 2 cents you spoke on my behave thx…

If it could come to Sprint and work on SERO I’d be all about it.

I have the TP2 and its great, but I’d like to try Android on it. Windows has yet to prove that they can constantly provide updates and features the way Android and even Apple has.

I’ll wait and see if Windows mobile will continue to innovate with Win 7 Series, or if we’ll be stuck with it for 5+ years.

  • http://www.duiknetwerk.nl/stekken/ William

I’ve been waiting for this one!

I don’t think I’ll have a problem with it shipping with WinMo 6.5. I really love having the possibility to install all these applications and tweaking it to my personal likings.

    Bring it on!

Look, every phone has the thing it’s good at. the iphone has apps, android is smooth, blackberry is great for professionals, and then winmo… it does a lot, but as far as mobile OS goes, it’s pretty lame. i recently started “flashing” my tp2 and have found a lot better ROMs than the ones offered by winmo. also, the folks at xda-developers are working on porting android over to be flashed onto winmo devices. whem this fully happens, then the tp2 will be a truly great phone.

  • Justin

The TP2 is a great piece of hardware. I wasn’t entirely happy with WinMo 6.5 though. Now the pics I’ve seen of the TP3 next to the TP2, the TP2 looks a lot nicer. Hopefully what I’ve seen is something else all together. I feel there are very few changes HTC needs to make to the form factor of the TP2. Mostly just capacitive touch instead of the resistive. I’d like to see it have WinPhone7 as well.

It boggles my mind why HTC hasn’t released a similar phone with Android. They have so many Android phones that are similar to each other that sell that the same should be true of identical or similar phones with different OSes.

TP3 Wish List: TP2 with capacitive touch, Nvidia Tegra 2 or Snapdragon 1Ghz. Windows Phone 7 version with it’s respective buttons. Also Android version with the Android buttons.

Apple barely changes their hardware and does fine several versions later. No reason to change great features from the TP2 just to be trying something different.

  • Bill

I don’t understand why HTC won’t release an updated version of the Touch Pro2 with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor…would the change require that much change to it’s hardware specs?

    • Daron

The Touch Pro2 Need more then just a 1ghz snapdragon processor. The screen need to be updated(multi touch), 3.5mm jack need to be build into the device, more ram. You can’t just stick a big processor into a device thinking that it will be able to support it.

The question is… What the point of the Touch Pro 3? its not going to be that much big of an update.

      • http://www.bgr.com/ Robbie

Daron, The TP2 has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The TP2 really is an awesome phone. I don’t understand why everyone is so Android crazy. A TP2 can be customized to do anything a droid phone does with better keyboard and you can install apps to micro SD card, giving you almost unlimited storage. Where’s all the love for TP2?

  • Alan

BRING OUT A TP3 COMPETE WITH SAMSUNG’S EPIC IF IT WAS HTC EPIC I WOULD BUY ONE SEEING HOW SAMSUNG IS IN THE MIX THERE PRODUCTS SUCK BALLS. COME ON HTC COMPETE!

  • Me

    yes

  • Androidsucks
