Root access obtained for TELUS MILESTONE

Software

telus-milestone-3

In our review of the TELUS MILESTONE we lamented Motorola’s decision to digitally sign the bootloader which makes rooting quite difficult. Thankfully, over the past couple of days there has been a lot progress within the Android community and root access for the TELUS MILESTONE has obtained by way of a Brazilian sbf. Sadly kernel access is still absent, but at this point we guess we should just be happy we’ve made it this far. Hit up the read link for a full set of instructions.

Thanks, Arjun!

Now if only it would have T-Mobile’s 3G bands……

Unfortunately because there is no bootloader access it seems we can’t install custom ROM’s and therefore, can’t update to 2.1 and therefore, can’t workaround the massive scrolling bug in the stock 2.01 version of the Telus Milestone (ie, the web browser is utterly useless on pages more complex than, for example Google).

Alas, still hoping the Nexus One comes out on Rogers this month as rumoured.

Unless the Nexus One is coming in UMTS format you’re out of luck. The N1 is AWS and can only run on Wind’s network.

What does it mean that the root has a work around? Does this mean that we can install custom rims on the Mileatone?

    • SKINNI

THAT WOULD BE SWEET TO INSTALL “CUSTOM RIMS”!

    • hemdroid

iPhones users jailbreak to use on another carrier. Droid users root to customize and overclock their phone.

The lack of reply is indicative of the abscence of nicety on this board.

    FYI,
there is the same amount of daylight whether you move the clocks or not .we’re merely moving our standard to suit needs of schools and businesses.
If someone asks you what time it is “it’s now”
all other moments have passed or anticipated.
like boxcars on a track one moment passes before the next arrives..
