T-Mobile branded HTC HD2 and Nokia Nuron snapped in the wild

General

Last night was easily the best night of the year for the celebrity-crazed paparazzi. It also turned out to be a pretty darn good night for the smartphone paparazzi as well for two upcoming T-Mobile handsets were given the star treatment on their very own red carpet. First up was the HTC HD2, the infinitely lovable Windows Phone with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and gargantuan 4.3″ WVGA display, which looked as stylish as ever in Sense UI by HTC. Never one to miss an opportunity to show support for those in need, the HD2 took a moment to show off its Blockbuster app which will allow proud owners to download movies on demand. Immediately following the HD2 was the Nokia Nuron. Although the general consensus was that it was dressed more for the Kids Choice Awards than the Academy Awards, the Nuron made a bit of a stir when it shrieked at the top of its lungs how it had seen the light, converted to Buddhism and was now on a mission to convince everyone that less is more and that all other smartphones cannot possibly be as happy as it is living with S60, an OS that is on its way out. When will us ordinary folk get a chance to meet these stars? The Nuron is still a mystery, but we’re still very confident on a March 24th debut for the HD2.

    That HD2 looks so nice.

  • NEEDMYDROID

FUCK THE IPHONE I NEED AN HD2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Bradley

yes the HD2 is a beautiful and powerful device but microsoft is bitching about it not being compatible for winmo7. so if you like and want winmo7 forget about that HD2 for now.

So as not to confuse anyone else. There is no such thing as Windows Mobile 7. The Mobile environment is actually named Windows Phone 7 (series).

      • NuShrike

Or Wimpy7 as less of a mouthful.

      • MobileSwitch

Not true, for those “savvy” enough, XDA will come through.

    • Knarf

I tested this phone over the weekend. And I WILL get one the day it is released. The phone is smooth, fast, and flat out good looking! Truthfully, people can make up whatever excuses they want about WMo I don’t care. Go buy your Androids phones (which still hasn’t shown me much to this date.) Or go buy your Iphones. I will be more than happy to snap up the HTC HD2. This phone is the BOMB! Period!!!

    • Junky

You’re not that bright, are ya’ Dallas??

  • A.K.

Why do they say “snapped in the wild”, are new tech gadgets naturally popping out of the woods?
    How nerdy!

    • LaToya (AKA Digital Nightmare)

@A.K., for these nerds, outside of their bedrooms is the wilderness.

  • Pythagoras

    who cares if it winmo7?

if you like it just get it

later this year we will worry about winmo7

i am buying either this phone or the se aspen

    • Nokia N900

Everyone cares if it has Win Mobile 7, why buy a phone with an operating system that will be replaced in 2 or 3 months with no chance of upgrading? Also after Win Mo 7 comes out the support for Win Mo 6.5 will disappear.

      • http://www.applebythehour.com Jarrett

Since there is no WinMo 7 no one could buy a phone with it anyway.

People, the Mobile OS is Windows Phone 7 (series).

      • Nokia N900

Dude, no one cares about your dumb ass fact check. You and everyone with a brain knows what I was talking about.

      • Bobomo

It’ll be longer than 2-3 months. More like 7-8. Microsoft has pledged to support 6.5 well into the future, although it is likely that fringe developers will start moving on. However, there are quiet a few devices out there and will be for some time. Add in the active ROM cooking community, and there is plenty of life left in this phone.

  • Sin City

I would never doubt XDA either. Trust me, they will find a way to add Windows Mobile 7 to the HD2.

  • Jim

All this talk about WP7 is premature. If msft sees an opportunity to make $ on the HTC HD2 or any next gen HTC HD handset, you can
bet your last cent they will put it out. This phone will be the phone to have until Apple gets the message and bumps up the hardware and screen size to compete with it. I’ve had
an iPhone since they first came out and that program is coming to a screeching halt the day this phone is released. Nothing currently available can compete with it.

    • NuShrike

More than likely, it’ll be the phone pilloried as an example of ODMs not following the rules knowing what was coming down the pipes.

  • grrr

The touch HD was alright. The HD2 is awesome. The HD3 will be amazing,

  • StevenGlansburg

Any news on the Droid 4G?

  • Steverl22

I can’t wait to buy this phone!!!

  • I’m on a horse, old spice

    Fuck windows mobile lol

Notice in the reflection of the HD2, the photographer is using a Nokia N900. It even has the sticker on back showin how to remove the back cover.

So now I’m thinking two things:
    1. This is how you avoid blurrycam shots. USE A NOKIA for those shots! N90 came out in 2005, so we should be long past bad mobile pics.

    2. Is this shot in a TMobile shop? If so, will they be carrying the N900 as well? It could be this guy’s personal device, but wouldn’t it have those stickers removed? So seems he’s got an HD2 and an N900 freshly unboxed.

    Kinda makes you go hmmm…

    • Nokia N900

Alright, you got , you got me, I took the pictures!

      • Deaconclgi

        LOL @ Nokia N900

  • b1gg134

AT&T please stop with the crap, like the Backflip, and get the HD2!!!

    • LaToya (AKA Digital Nightmare)

Too bad, it’s exclusive to AT&T, but at least you can get the iPhone for an entertainment device.

  • Nokia N900

The HD 2 better have Windows 7 or it’s a definite no go!

Cant wait to see all of what T-mobile has to offer this year. I just might switch back if I like what they have to offer this year.

With Microsoft’s track record does anyone really think win7 is even going to be on a phone this year? Seriously its MS.

  • sikkboy

Does the HD2 have a 3.5mm headphone jack? Or is it the crappy HTC extUSB plug? Thanks.

    • bigsmooth66

Just came from a T-Mobile store and played with the HD2. The phone is awesome!! Yes, it does have a 3.5mm jack. The phone is very responsive and fast. The pictures do not do the phone justice. Watched Transformers on it and the sound and picture were top notch. The swipe keyboard is great for people with large hands (like myself). Hopefully people (and this site) will get over their iPhone bias and give this phone a try.

      • Knarf

bigsmooth66, I have to agree with you wholeheartedly! Over the weekend I played with this phone and it is awesome. I too have big hands and it fitted perfectly. The phone was very smooth, fast, and plain out fantastic!!! The touch screen was very responsive, the movies had superb graphics!

It begs the question those so called writers who dogged this phone because it had WMo if they weren’t bias to begin with? This phone showed no indications of being sloppy. It’s a first class gem!

  • betchplz

Everyone is just glancing over the Nuron.. which I think is better than the Tap. $10 /optional/ unlimited 3G (where available) web access…

  • NancyDrew

T-mobile is fucking the mobile industry without a rubber right now, it just feels right, ya know?

  • Brain Juice

T-Mo rep came to my job, because we sell multiple carriers. Nuron release date 3.17.10.
