HTC HD2, Motorola CLIQ XT, and Nokia Nuron get priced?

TmoNews HD2 Pricing

TmoNews has acquired what looks to be some legit pricing information about the yet-to-be-released HTC HD2, Motorola CLIQ XT, and Nokia Nuron… and the pricing looks pretty good.  The HD2 will reportedly retail for $199 with 2-year contract and $449 contract free. The $199 price point on the HD2 will also presumably be mail-in-rebate-less if you sign up for a data plan at time of purchase. Moving on, the Motorola CLIQ XT will retail for $129 with 2-year contract and $329 contract free. Again, the $129 is the price you will pay at the register if you sign up for a data plan when you purchase your shiny new CLIQ XT. TmoNews adds: “the Nokia Nuron which was cut off from the image…[will be] $69.99 after rebate. No contract? No problem. That’ll be $179.99.” How about it? Do any of these offerings excite you T-Mobile customers?

      There is no WinMo7. It is Windows Phone 7.

      From what I have read, it is not expected to get WP7 unfortunately. Maybe Microsoft will surprise everybody though.

      Even if the HD2 doesn’t get an upgrade to Windows Phone 7, $199 is a great price!

        It’s only a great price if you have a grandfathered plan that gives you all the features of the EM+ plans but at a lower price than EM+. Otherwise, people are paying a $199 premium to stay on contract if they qualify for no interest payments of $20/month for the full cost of the phone. Even though they would be making payments of $20/m extra if they go off contract, they would still have to pay that much to be on an equivalent EM contract plan. The main difference is that they won’t have to pay the extra $199 up front.

    I STILL dont understand how T-Mo keeps getting these phones. I mean, theyre the lamest carrier in my opinion, so Im just wondering what theyre doing in order to comandeer these phones…

      If T-mobile was loyal to HTC, Why shouldn’t HTC be Loyal to T-mobile. Plus T-mobile is a bigger company (World Wide) than the other 3 in the U.S.

      Why does it take so long to get phones here that have been in europe, asia, australia etc for so long? By time we get them they are old news! I have been hearing about the HD2 for so long now that the polish has worn down. What’s up with that?

    I would take a HD2 unlocked to use on AT&T’s network. But 500 for a celly is too much.

    The full price of the HD2 is nice. As for the contract price, however, it’s the same old thing. People are going to get it on contract thinking they are getting a great deal and end up paying $20/month more for their plan ($40 for family). That $20/m plus the $199 up front totals $680 that they will pay for the phone over two years. That’s $230 more than the full price of the phone. Going off contract will be the best way to buy the phone even if you make $20/m payments on it because you won’t have to pay an extra $199 up front. That’s one advantage the N1 doesn’t have. You still save money by going off contract when you buy it at full price but you have to pay it all at once rather than making no interest payments.

    Even though the HD2 will be $80 less than the N1, I’m not a fan of WM or Sense, and I’m still glad to have my N1. It’s a sweet piece of hardware.

      Well we should just be glad T-Mo actually has an option to pay less for a non-subsidized plan. You couldn’t even do this math for any other carrier.

      However, as you pointed out above, as someone on a legacy plan that is really cheap, this price actually means something. I want the Nexus 1 pretty bad, but thanks to the lack of upgrade possibilities for those of us with family plans, I can’t get it at any kind of a discount. The $329 difference is enough to make me consider it, even though I’m not a huge fan of WM or of dying platforms in general.

    What are people’s thoughts on 6.5 v. 7? Better to get the HD2 now because 6.5 is refined and has a large app base or wait for 7′s and absorb the hassels that come with new software and small app catalogue?

      Since WP7 is just a concept and we don’t know anything about it, no one can really answer that question. 6.5 will continue to be supported for some time, but there probably won’t be as much excitement behind it as any of the other platforms, and certainly no major revisions. Just some bug fixes, etc. But if you want a functional and stable platform for the life of a 2 year contract, I’d be willing to bet that the HD2 will be just fine. At the end, however, you’ll have to jump ship to a new platform.

      Because of the price, I’m seriously considering it. As much as I want to join in the Android Party, the N1 does not make financial sense.

    To bad htc will have to give Apple 1/2 of what they make on devices that mimic the iPhone. Htc like verizon, palm, and sprint will be bankrupt all by years end.

    Great pricing T-Mobile. Better than any other WinMo handset the other 3 have currently and priced WAY below the initial TP2 price.

    Yes is true. I just went to a t-mobile store here in Queens, NY and one of the sales person had it, she said she couldn’t let me play with it because her manager was there and that she’s training everyone, that’s why she had the phone and its going to be available this month for $199 w/2 year contract.

    so, in my opinion, no. 300 unique visits would not be worth keeping the lights on.
