RIM's BESX goes live, available for download

BESX

Last month we reported on RIM’s announcement of BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express (BESX). And today, we are happy to report that BESX is alive, well, and ready for download on RIM’s website. As previously mentioned, BESX is RIM’s solution for small and medium sized businesses who could benefit from the centralized control and functionality of a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) but can’t justify the cost of a full fledged BES. We’ve got the official RIM BESX site all linked up for you. We’ll be sticking to a regular BES server around these parts, but what about you guys?

It’s not “BES server (Blackberry Enterprise Server server)” it’s a BES.

I could say the same thing about Microsoft with the windows NT splash screen from back in the day…. It said build on NT technology when starting up… NT stands for (New Technology)…So it actually said built on (New Technology Technology) LOL!

Still need to install software on the mail server… We use hosted BES from http://www.colibrimobile.com for a truly hosted BES – works like a charm

  • interfasys

I just wish it could run on Linux, this would make it accessible to most SMEs out there.

    • LLoydB

what email platform are you using? Sendmail?

in addition to a server for small and medium businesses, RIM has also informed my company that it is for company to use with personal liable devices as well. so my large company can stand up BESX and its free to the company, but the end user also does not have to pay the addtional 15 dollar monthly fee to be on the BES infrastructure. it works with their existing BIS plan. this is a big deal for all of you that work at companies that offer company liable only blackberrys. RIM has just helped open up the door to brining in your own Blackberry and getting company email/PIM data in a way that is secure to the company.

“The BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express software itself will be free, but we’ve been told RIM will charge $5 per user per month. ”

    Has this fee been confirmed?

    • http://darkfiberla.com Dan Spielman

I can’t find anything about pricing.

    • Michael

that was a rumor before the release, there is no charge for software, or per user license.

  • Summerkand

    what about the pricing ??
