webOS 1.4 touches down for Palm Pre, Pixi, Pre Plus, Pixi Plus

We envy every single Pre/Pixi user this morning, because for our money, we can’t think of a more enjoyable way to start the day than installing a software update for our beloved smartphone. And that’s just what those lucky devils will be doing because overnight Palm pushed out webOS 1.4. There’s a whole lotta awesome packed into this update, but we think we can sum it up in a few words: bug fixes, Flash support and video capture. Good stuff.

UPDATE: Looks like it is not currently available for Verizon Palm users yet.

    It’s not on the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus yet is it? Verizon hasn’t released it yet I thought. This is only for Sprint as far as the US goes.

      Nokia could use the Palm OS because Symbian blows and Maemo isn’t for people that see actual sun light on occasion.

        I’ve never experienced Palm OS or Symbian, if you’re looking for an argument you won’t find it here, I’m not a Nokia Fanboy. I can tell you that Nokia has a 41% stake in the cell phone market and Palm has about 0.041%. I bought the N900 because it has a full qwerty keyboard, WiFi and a camera with a flash for when I go out at night since I don’t “see actual sun light”.

        Your posts are generally intelligent. This one though is not. You should never lead with marketshare numbers that are lower than the previous year and lower than the year previous to that. Nokia was once a dominant company, that dominance is slowly failing. Reminds me of another company that dominated the desktop OS market.

      If you read the other Palm article you’ll see that they said it’ll require a plugin that in the App Catalog. So check in there.

    @ Nokia N900, Are you retarded? Palm’s webOS is an amazing software that is just as good as Apple, Google, and Nokia. And Nokia’s trying to push Maemo which sucks and is completely unsuccessful. so shut up and don’t talk about stuff u don’t even know about.

    Everyone says the Blackberry OS is ancient and dated, but I’ve been able to do this for over a year now. It is likely it has been around much longer, but I only started using the calendar in the phone last year.

    “The LED in the gesture area now lights up and pulses if you have a notification (even when the screen is off). You can also customize notification sounds in Messaging, Email (on an account-by-account basis), and Calendar.”

    I could do this on an 8703e in 2006!

    I haven’t given palm much attention. That’s my fault. However, if these are considered innovations to their OS in 2010, it definitely isn’t my loss!

    I am still stunned by the fact that different notification sounds for different accounts & features is a new thing in 2010. I am never complaining about my 9530 on crackberry ever again.

    They got in 2010 what a 7250 did half a decade ago. So no, I’m not praising the OS.

      we got what Palm OS did a whole decade ago. and guess what the same people who made Palm OS make WebOS. They left it out because its trivial and probably would have made our user experience worse in some way at launch.

      at least now we can do all the same things we could on PalmOS, but aren’t still running PalmOS. Unlike you who is running some more colorful version of the same software with all kinds of half baked applications.

    Hey, I’m impressed. I was honestly looking forward to the HTC Touch Pro coming down in price, but I think I may go with this phone if it comes with Sprint. I’ve always liked Palm stuff, even if they were behind the times. Quality is always better than cutting edge…unless they happen at the same time, which it looks like this phone will accomplish.
