New MacBook Pros are coming, new iMacs are coming! The cries of an impending MacBook Pro and iMac refresh are coming this time from Gizmodo which has gotten its hands on a Best Buy inventory screenshot from a Canadian retailer that reveals a long list of placeholders for dummy Apple hardware. The tipster adds fuel to the fire by claiming to have seen listings for several high-end iMacs which, though listed, were currently not in the store. The next time the Apple store goes down for maintenance will we actually see some new high end hardware from Apple or will it be another Aperture 3 tease?

This has to be the worst rumor tip I have seen. Do you really believe that Apple is giving the bestbuy corporate buyers details on the new SKU’s? I mean seriously, realy?

More than likely BB is working on the dummy SKU’s to get them ready for the eventual refresh, which EVERYONE KNOWS is around the corner, and if they weren’t getting ready for them, they shouldn’t be working in corporate.

Not saying any buyer worth his salt would make dummy SKU’s, but if that is what that particular person does to get ready then so be it. The reseller market knows when stuff is about to come out just as much as anyone else and trying to pretend that BB’s “fake/dummy” sku’s are any signal other than pure speculation that something is coming out is just plain stupid.

EVERYBODY already knows the mbp’s are being refreshed “any day now” since the white macbook was released, and then the price in EDU dropped to $899.

Apple has been known to screw their resellers with old inventory and little in the way of discounts on it when they get stuck with it. BestBuy is doing its best to make sure they aren’t stuck with the old SKU’s when the new ones come out. They are playing the game just like every other reseller out there.

What’s the big deal about a hardware refresh? They’re just gonna raise specs and keep prices the same. And then when late summer rolls around, they are going to offer a free iPod touch with every laptop purchase for students. Wash, rinse, repeat. I love Apple’s products as much as anyone else but a product refresh shouldn’t be getting this much attention. Especially for a company getting to be so predictable. What’s next, you’re gonna tell me the next iPhone is gonna be announced in June, just like the last two years?

I’m afraid you’re mistaken, BGR. This is simply a list of how many customers they expect to sell the first gen model to.

… of the iPad, i mean.

Look, a Fandroid with a fragmentedly multi-posted post.

Jeesh, how far behind are you people? Didn’t you hear that ALL Apple products have been renamed to “Dummy”?

This is to assist people that buy them in realizing what Steve Jobs calls them when he is counting his billions!

Where would he be without all the Apple Dummies?
:-) C’mon, that was funny, you know it was!

    • matt

Yeah, it was pretty funny. I’m gonna push that little green plus mark for ya.

      • matt

Notice I said “push” and not “click”. I’m obviously doing this from my IPAD!

      • smooter

        Ouch!

        Touchy, touchy….

Whaddaya gotta’ do to get a laugh nowadays? :-)

      • smooter

        @matt

Dude, you aren’t really going to buy an iPad are you?

I mean, seriously….an iPad? Other Mac products there “may” be justification for, but the iPad?

That thing is just embarrassing…..and sad. After all the hype, I think even the Mac faithful (even though they will buy one…) are underwhelmed.

        Just sayin’

Who knows what it all means but I’m ready- canceled order a few weeks ago for the 15″ Pro hoping all this rumor stuff was legit sooner than later.

  • boomKABOOM

One company grows market share (Not Microsoft) one company loses market share (Microsoft). It’s funny in the 90′s a company was bleeding cash and market share and they were laughed at. Now that same company is crushing industries and gaining market share and people are still laughing. Of course, it is a nervous laugh now.

I want my IPS LCD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Willing to pay 2 and 1/2 g’s.

I seriously doubt it. The new iMacs came out in October, and the i7 processor in the current model is already the second fastest processor Intel produces. There’s nothing in the Intel road map that would suggest anything new coming soon. Unless there was a SHOCKING reason to redo the whole model, or there was a graphic card or other shift, I just can’t see it happening. New Macbooks — sure. New Mac Pros. Def. New iMacs? I’m not buying it.

  • factx

New Macbook pros…soon! New Imacs ….false!
