Rumor

The Wall Street Journal has chimed in and offered their inside information on the Windows Mobile and Project Pink rumors that have been circulating recently. Though it lacks the details of the earlier leaks, the Wall Street Journal confirms that Microsoft will publicly announce Windows Mobile 7 at MWC 2010 and are flying out Steve Ballmer to head up the show. As rumored, the latest generation of Microsoft’s mobile platform is expected to radically change the look and feel of Windows Mobile bringing a whole new Zune-like UI to this currently lackluster OS. Project pink was also confirmed by the WSJ and, as rumored, is a new series of handsets based upon Danger’s Sidekick line of mobile phones. The Project Pink phones are said to be social networking powerhouses which will appeal to a teen-aged audience. Though not expected to be announced at MWC 2010, the “Pink” handsets are slated for a spring launch on both Verizon Wireless and Vodafone.

I just hope these Zune phones are well built and not cheap looking. That would be a disappointment.

I think the design & feel will be something to look at & enjoy. Look at the Zune HD, I do like it hopefully the design will be based off that with minor changes

I can only hope for a Zune HD type device with a slide qwerty someday. (maybe the touch pro 3?)I happen to be a long time power user of WinMo and I love it. I’ve never had any problem. I’ve always been of the notion…a phone OS is only as smart as it’s user. I hope Windows Phone 7 changes the public opinion like Windows 7 did for scorned Vista users.

Wow WSJ = Mr. Obvious. MS already admitted that WM7 would be one display next week. Let’s hope they can pull a golden rabbit out of the hat. Personally I think it’s going to be a carbon copy of the Iphone OS only more craptastic.. Non of the technologies they (rumored) put into it have hit wide acceptance. And with the slash job they did with the catalog of the Zune Subscription it’s even less appealling. There only hop at this point is to subsidize the living hell out some high end hardware. I’m talking 1 ghz, 3.5 inch oled, 16 gig for 49 to 99 bucks no contract. Then maybe (big maybe) they’ll have long term success if the os/device can hit wide acceptance. Good luck MS your ice staking uphill.

2′m a big WinMo fan who has WinMo, I~Phones, and Android devices at work. I have used then all and can say definitively that Windows Mobile is in trouble. I donvt care for the I-Phone OS but there are thosands of apps. Android I like, and its apps are great and OS good and coming on strong. Soon it will have the capability to run programs off the storage cards.

WM7 better be damn good or I’m hithing a ride with Android. The Windows Marketplace better figure out how to provide a way to allow the user to run programs from the storage card. WinMo devices have such a small amount of internal memory to begin with. MS better figure it out and fast while they still have some customers.

Will they ever learn to leave the “Big Balm” at home? If there ever was a CEO in the tech world with less credibility than he I’ve never heard of him/her.

Odds are he will just lay another stinky load since it seems to be what he does best. MS is a day late and a dollar short with this. Their mobile OS will never catch Android or iPhone.
